Are detox diets safe??

Hello,
I am needing to lose 1-2 kgs in 9 days before an event (will continue losing after that).
I want to go on a 2 day detox diet followed by a sensible 1200-cal per day diet for the remaining 7 days. I will drink lots of water, and exercise for 1 hour a day (intense) minimum.
Anyway I want to eat 400 cals of cooked veges + 70 cals of skim mlk+ 130 cals of protein, e.g. a can of tuna tomorrow. Will only eat once/day. This will go on for 2 days.
Then.. I will eat 1200 calories- mainly vegetables, 100 cals dairy, 400 calories protein, 200 calories fruit.
Is this a good diet for fat burning?? Note: the detox is only for 2 days..
Can I go even lower and only eat 500 calories??
I binged today... so it might be good for me anyway.
Thanks!! arrghh I'm so stressed

Detox diets aren't safe nor sustainable in the long run. That said, I doubt you are really going to hurt yourself by doing this for only 2 days, but I also wonder if it will do you much good in reaching your goal. I think if you're wanting to lose 1-2 kgs in 9 days, you are better off avoiding foods rich in sodium and drinking loads of water.0

is losing 1-2kg really going to make any difference?
eating that little food, especially when you are prone to binging anyway, will most likely lead to a binge on around day 6-7...
why dont you use MFP as its supposed to be used, set it to lose 1lb per week and do some exercise... and if you want to lose weight for a particular event, dont wait till 9 days before to do so!0 -
Losing fat isn't even the purpose of a detox. A detox is meant to "clean your system" (your body flushes out toxins etc. on it's own, though).
No, it's not safe. No, it won't make you lose a noticeable amount of fat.0 -

That's not really a "detox" diet, it seems to be a very short term calorie restriction diet. Plus, tuna is not a detoxifying food.
A true "detox" can be safe, but you really have to know what you are doing. Most "detox" diets online are crap. And, it's really not necessary if you just eat right to begin with. Include detoxifying foods like parsley, cilantro, lemons, chia seeds, enough water, etc on a regular basis. Also, drink a huge glass of water every morning before any other liquids, or foods.
But if you feel you have to detoxify in a hurry, check into Dr. Alan Goldhamer's work on medically supervised water only fasting, but It's not for everyone. And it's not for weight loss.0
