P90X

So, I just started the P90X program and when I go into the exercise database to enter my exercise it doesn't have anything for the program. What do I put, since all the videos are different?

I have this same question/issue, and the best I've done is to enter it as "Aerobics, general." Just yesterday I did/attempted one of the Insanity videos, and this was the best entry I could find. The other catch-all entry I've used is "Circuit training, general."

I wish there was a better range of predefined entries in this category, as the different videos/workouts can vary so widely. Also, it seems odd that "marketed" workout regimens like Spinning have their own exercise categories in MFP, but similarly popular regimens like P90X, Insanity, and Crossfit are lacking.

I hope this helps, and good luck with P90X!

I usually create an exercise, label it and input cals burnt from my HRM. This is what I do with Insanity.
  • Me too. I wear a heart monitor so I can track time and exertion level, then go to shapesense.com to get an estimate of calories burned (based on average heart rate and time), then enter it as a 'create a new'. This allows me to compare across time as well. Hope that helps.

You'll have to wear a HRM for an accurate reading.

I restart on p90x myself on Monday after the Holiday!
    Good luck!

Maybe one of the entries for Calisthenics will work for really intense workouts. That's what I use for HIIT.

HRM's will not be accurate for non-steady state cardio. In other words, they will be wrong by a long shot for every workout in P90X. I suggest using the diet guide with the program to figure you caloric intake.

That said another option is to use circuit training for the strength training days, and aerobics, high impact for plyometrics.
