This is kind of bad, but...

Is anyone else motivated by seeing unhealthy people??

It's so strange, but when I see someone eating a crazy amount or more than enough of something they really ought not to eat so much of, it gives me a huge boost. I just remember being that person, and how much it sucked to be that way. I feel for them, but at the same time, it reminds me how far I've come and that I CAN do this. Don't get me wrong, seeing all the success stories on here is a HUGE motivator, too, but there's just something about being reminded through someone else that an unhealthy lifestyle is absolutely nothing to miss or want to go back to.

Thoughts?

I dated a guy that just shoved it in and chewed his food like he had to get it all down before someone came along to eat it up. I found that unattractive, needless to say were not dating anymore. So I'd have to agree to a point. But what motivates me more then anything is seeing my hard work pay off.

My most motivating TV show while on the horrible treadmill? Man vs Food. Just watching that guy eat that stuff (and watching the people at those restaurants) is enough to keep me going throughout my workout.
  • I see the truth in what you're saying. It's not schadenfreude. It feels to me more like compassion. It's also compassion for me. I see myself in that other person, and have to be grateful I've found a choice and one I want to pursue.
