This was proposed to a 7 year old boy in the first grade with the caption "I was helping my little brother"

  • Cause Nelson took them all off him!

Those who are saying the question is missing information.

Please! Do not question the legitimacy of an educational institution!

I use to trade stickers all the time as a kid to put on my note book! So, sometimes I would share with friends, I think we got them from some candy or breakfast cereal.

    As the saying goes

    Jack has S**T.

On a serious note this is an appalling question and scary that it has been set by a school.

Tani has 13 stickers. Jen gives him 10 more. How many stickers does Jack have?

This is what happened. (Well, an educated guess at it....)

The first edition of the book had all traditional English names that were popular in the 1950s like Jack, Peter, Jane, Susan and so on. And in the name of diversity, in a later edition they put in names from a range of different cultures and names that are more popular currently. Unfortunately, whoever was editing that question, only changed the name "Jack" to "Tani" the first time it appeared, not the second time.

Hence the mystery Jack suddenly appearing at the end of the problem.

I think I was better off not seeing it.

    who the fck is Jack?
  • This is your typical trick question at the kindergarten level. I would like to pretend these types of questions don't happen, but in fact us teachers enjoy the thought of tricking little a-holes. We want all of your children to fail. This mysterious Jack is really just a fictitious manifestation of our imagination. He, in our book, can have whatever amount of stickers we say. We can change the answer, make up an answer, or tell the kids that they are wrong without explanation. Its just how the system works!

Those GOD Damn minorities! Breathing all the air, changing our education! And Tani should go back to Japan, that is why we put all the Tanis in concentration camps or "internment programs" for the PC folks!

    MURICA! DON'T TREAD ON ME!
