Logging.... but forgiving if I go over. Its just twice a year ( today and Christmas). That we have a feast. But I cut my PA dutch potato filling in calories by ading in cauliflower and reducing the spuds. Butter (smart balance) and celery and onion as usual.

I'm logging everything, but I fully expect it to be something close to 3,000 calories. I'm not going to panic about it because I'm going to enjoy this one day, and then I'm going to take any and all leftovers to work for my coworkers to enjoy.

Last year I tried to be "perfect" and it worked until about 9pm, when I ate what seemed like 6 cups of mashed potato and rolls.

i will probably make an attempt at logging but I am not too concerned about it...I had a low calorie day yesterday and am treating today like a re-feed day...so its all in on the eating for me!

I pre-logged my Thanksgiving meal and it comes out to around 900 calories with dessert. My family is very supportive of my weight loss so instead of one type of vegetable on the table, there will be 3 (steamed broccoli, cauliflower, and green beans). Bringing my food scale to make sure my estimates are close and other than that, eating a regular lunch and going for a run. Pretty normal day.

I've pre-logged everything and I have 380 calories left for whatever so far! I'll adjust as I go. But we're not eating anything with too many calories anyway (well except the cheese I just had).

Will log everything (but not weighing). Will prob go easy on mashed potatoes and rolls, but am going to drink my wine and eat without worrying about my targets. Happy Thanksgiving!

Logging EVERYTHING, and skipping things to make sure I'm in under my calorie goal for the day. I'm letting myself have all the turkey I want, but no potatoes, stuffing or rolls/bread. And maybe 2 bites of dessert off my husband's plate.

    Unfortunately, I'm not cooking today so I can't pre-log.

Logging everything until dinner, then not logging that. Planning on enjoying myself thoroughly. I'm in maintenance, made sure to be at the low end of my range, and worked my butt off at the gym yesterday. Too busy baking to go the gym today, will go tomorrow and work hard again.

I've also pre-logged my meal for the day. I will have one meal today.

My daily caloric intake right right now is 2,190 calories. My meal as planned is around 1,800 calories. I left 900 calories in the bank yesterday, so, I have plenty of wiggle room today. Too be honest, even a 2,190 calorie meal is quite a gorge.

I know there are some who will let it all hang out today, that's cool, that's their choice. As for me, I'm a foodaholic and have decided that for where I am right now in my life, I'm better off choosing moderation over indulgence. Besides, I will be surrounded by my kids, grandkids, nieces, great nieces and nephews all enjoying each others company. Which is what today is all about for my family anyways ;-)
  • I am in a bit of a quandary. I am going to my husband's sister's house for thanksgiving. Having been there before, they are not big on vegetables with the exception of a Caesar salad drowned in dressing. I think I will need to eat a sensible meal before going and then (out of respect) take a small portion of what is offered. It is out of my hands what is served. But I try to keep in mind of what I am thankful for.

I'm logging it as 3000 calories. Good enough. One day of eating whatever I want and back on the wagon tomorrow.

I'm eating a little of everything and not getting stuffed! No logging, no worrying, just relaxing! I also made just enough food so that we won't have left overs for years!

I'm only logging my ice cream (already ate 800 calories worth LOL!) & if I eat anything for dinner later. I had the stomach bug Monday & had a lot of leftover calories that day & Wednesday from also not feeling well.

Turkey Hill Pumpkin Pie Ice Cream FTW.

I'm going to be thankful that I have family and food and not worry about logging at all today. I could be starving and homeless, but I'm not. Thanksgiving is about being thankful for what you have and I happen to have plenty of food today. I will eat small portions of whatever I want. Much smaller portions than previous Thanksgivings... I would feel almost disrespectful to those who have to go without food by counting calories today. I'm a very guilty person though. To each their own!

I'm going to be logging everything up until dinner time. I'm planning on just relaxing and eating what I want during dinner without going overboard but I may log that as well out of curiosity.

I pre-logged last night based on what I am cooking and what I like. I may add or subtract as I go about my day. Looks like I may come in under 2000 calories, and still have everything I want. But if I go over that, it's ok. My main goal is to have what I want without that uncomfortable overly full feeling.

I got a great workout in this morning and I may try to log but I am just gonna enjoy today. I plan on eating sensible. Just getting small portions so if I got back for seconds or thirds I will not feel like I am just going overboard. Let's enjoy!

Looking forward to logging the calories. Want to see what my typical Thanksgiving Day meal(s) amounts to.

Exercised but not worrying about food intake.

    Enjoy the day.

I will think about it probably 20 times, and how silly an idea it is to do today. I type this eating cherry turnovers. oh yes, there will be some serious breakage of diet today.... Now... there is that Makers Mark...
  • I'm definitely logging today. I am going to enjoy the eats today though; as I only go wild on Thanksgiving, Christmas, and my Birthday dinner.

Other times that I tried to stay under calorie on Thanksgiving, I just ended up binging by dessert, and eatting about 2x more than if I would have just eatten what I wanted.

  • Just a question? If only logging till dinner why log at all for the day, just enjoy!! If your not logging dinner than your really in essence taking a indulge day, why worry about breakfast and lunch if you have no idea what dinner is going to consist of calorie wise. Just curious.

Just eat and enjoy the people in your life. One day of eating like the old you will not turn you back into the old you.

I'm logging, because I want to know how much I ate. I pre-logged a reasonable meal. We'll see how closely I hew to that plan!

I'm going to eat whatever I want, though. I think of my goal not as a daily goal, but as a weekly goal. Some days I go over the daily goal, some days I am under it; what matters to me is that at the end of the week, I'm under (or not much over) my total for the week. That applies to feasts like Thanksgiving - yesterday I had a 700-calorie deficit from an intense workout; I didn't eat the calories back because I was thinking of today's dinner.

Back in October I did a 111-mile bike ride that burned about 4300 calories; my calories for the day were negative, despite eating during the ride and then the post-ride pizza and beer, but I made up for it in the next few days by going over my goal to ensure I had enough carbs and protein to repair my muscles and replenish the glycogen. It all balanced out in the end.
