Good nut & seed snack mix

I've been eating 'ready mixed' fruit and nuts recently as a mid-morning snack. I'm trying in general to eat more protein and I know that nuts and seeds can be good for this - amongst the other good things they contain which I also want to eat more of. The stuff I've been eating has a bit too much fruit in it though which is obvioulsy high in sugar - it's raisins, peanuts and almonds.
Does anyone have any suggestions for the types of nuts and seeds I could put together and in what ratios? Does anyone do this themselves?

Like all nut snacks portion control is important sine nuts are high in calories. But I eat this from time to time.

    Honey Nut Snack Recipe

    2/3 cup unsweetened shredded coconut
    2/3 cup sunflower seeds
    1/2 cup raw pepitas
    1/2 cup slivered almonds
    1/3 cup sesame seeds
    2 Tbsp flax meal
2 Tbsp roasted black sesame seeds
    1/4 cup chopped dried apricots
    1/4 cup chopped dried cherries
    1/2 cup honey
    1/4 cup walnut oil
Preheat oven to 250 degrees F.

Place all dried ingredients in a bowl. Stir in honey and oil and mix until well-blended.

Pour mixture onto a lightly-greased baking sheet (or onto parchment paper). Spread out into a single layer. Clumping is OK.

    Bake for one hour.

    Cool and break into chunks.
  • Sounds great - thanks!

Go to a health store and buy roasted pumpkin seeds, sunflower seeds and almonds--no salt. Mix them together and put in a jar. Have a tablespoon or two when you're hungry.
