How Many Calories?!

MFP says that I should have 1200 cals a day for a weekly loss between 1-2 lbs. But, I'm still feeling very hungry. I lost 5 lbs my first week and then this week only .6....not even a lb. I did some research and everything is coming up with that I need 1500-1600 cals. I want to do this the right way and lose healthily. What do you think? Should I change my daily intake?

I started at 1,800 and lost. I went to 1,600 and lost then stalled for over a week. I went back to 1,800 and started to lose again. I would just pick one and start then adjust as you see what works best for you.0

Pick 1 lb a week, and eat back your exercise calories. Or use http://scoobysworkshop.com/calorie-calculator/ with a 20% deficit. I've been using Scooby and been eating pretty much 1600-1700 for 11 months.0

I don't lose weigh in a linear way. I lose a big bit after my TOM and then a little bit more 2 weeks later after ovulation. So if I was paranoid I'd post here every 2 weeks about this plateau I've been having, but I have just accepted that that's the way it is so chin up0

Yes you need more calories than 1200, your body probably just proved it to you. If you will eat and log carefully and gradually add back calories, say 100 per day, you may be able to identify your particular sweet spot for optimum weight loss. You'll need to keep everything else constant, like exercise, water intake, sleep, and stress level, and weight each day. In a week or two you should have the information you need, and then you can reset your MFP goals. These things are unique for each person, but the MFP settings are very general and won't be right for everyone. Best of luck to you in your efforts!0
