How to lose weight effectivey in one week?

Hello

Okay I'm going to continue with steady and sustainable weight loss, but I need to lose weight in one week for a 3-day thing which is away from home. Anyway, I only ate 500 calories yesterday and burnt 800 calories, which I KNOW isn't too good for me. However I'm eating 1200 calories/day, mainly protein (500 cals), veges (400 cals) and 200 cals fruit.

If I have that much protein (almost half my caloric intake), will I still be efficient in losing fat and maintaining muscle? I am going on another 500cal diet next week JUST FOR ONE DAY because I won't have the chance to workout.

Also... I do weight training 3 times a week.

This is short term, and I will continue with fat loss sustainably.

Thanks!

I think you should seek professional help from a doctor, registered dietitian and psychiatrist. Please do so as soon as possible.
  • u fasting?

and are u sure your numbers are right?

how important is this 3 day thingy..? because there's always a dangerous way to lose weight, and a healthy way to lose weight.

    hey :)

Yes it's quite important :) I know that this may seem unhealthy but all the food in my calorie limit is healthy and of high nutritional value, and I'm making sure that I eat 500 cals worth of protein/day, as well as veges, fruit and dairy. Low carb is my plan

I'm just wondering if the protein is enough to sustain muscle and lose fat.

This won't last for very long, probably a month or so.

A month...at 500 cals. And you think you are somehow going to sustain muscle and lose fat.

Now, is it one week, or a month or so?

I really dont think that trying to go very low calorie for 3 days will help you lose weight by the weekend, it just doesnt happen that quickly. And no, just making sure the 500 cals are good quality wont be enough to stop muscle loss.

    Your goals are unrealistic, sorry.

Oh, there will be a crap ton load of fat lost.

It just won't be all that's lost.

Oh, I agree. My disbelief was at the sustain muscle part

IF You read the question properly, I said, okay I'll quote instead, how about that: "and I'm making sure that I eat 500 cals worth of protein/day, as well as veges, fruit and dairy. Low carb is my plan "

Oh and you quoted me as well.. alright.. Okay well to clarify things so you will understand, perhaps.
I meant 500 calories of protein in one day, which equates to salmon and an egg, or eggs and 3 cans of tuna, OR grilled chicken. On top of that however, I will eat vegetables and 1-2 servings of fruit, and yoghurt/milk.

I will be eating 500 calories ONCE per week only. on my rest day where I'm not going to workout, only do stretching/yoga.

hope you understand a little better now

    Thanks :)

Let's say that in best case you will manage lose 1kg or more temporarily in 1 week.
What will you gain with it? What will be the difference for you during this weekend with 1-2 kg more or less?

"An event." Something tells me you're not competing in a weight class event and you're either doing one of those biggest loser things (HATE those) or think somehow people will magically notice the difference in a 3-4lb loss.

If your calories are too low, protein will not help you retain enough muscle mass. My last cut was a failed attempt, all I was eating was protein and veggies and I lost a good amount of muscle because my calories was too low even though my protein intake was high. I screwed up from not eating enough and had to bulk up agian to regain the muscle I lost from not consuming enough calories. So bottom line is that even though you are eating a lot of protein, if your not consuming enough calories you can say bye bye to your muscles. Dont make the mistake I made.

So you mean similar to the 5:2 diet? Eating regularly (1200) 5 days a week, and 500 twice (or in your case once) a week?

There's a whole lot of information out there that claims to support this, saying that it stops your metabolism from dropping on the two non-consecutive days, because your regular intake is high enough that your body doesn't go into starvation mode, and a whole lot of research proving it doesn't do a thing. What you're doing already is good enough. Get at least 1,200 calories a day! 500 from protein is fantastic (I'm a sucker for carbs u__u), exercise 3 or more times a week, and you'll be golden.

Coming from somebody who has battled with anorexia for the past 5 years, the 3 day thing is no way near as important as your on-going mental health. Trust me.

Well, OK, one low cal day won't hurt you, as long as your OTHER days are fine.

If it's something along the lines of 5:2 fasting, remember that those 5 days are at maintenance/ TDEE level.

But this approach still wont help you lose weight fast, sorry.

I find on days that I weight train I really need a decent amount of food, so you might want to make sure you schedule your low day for a non-weight training one.

    No, you won't.

From your post history, you'll continue to meander from one fad to another in an effort to justify your unhealthy relationship with food.

    Good luck with that.

This. And as other posters have reminded you: NO ONE will notice a 3 - 4 pound loss. No one.

I do low carb and eat almost 2000 calories a day and loose weight a reasonable pace. 500 calories is not healthy for low carb because of what you are already cutting out.

Perhaps look into Lyle MacDonald's Protein Sparing Modified Fast (PSMF) diet. It's a crash diet, for sure, but designed specifically to rip fat off with blistering speed and preserve lean muscle as much as possible, and it's designed by someone who actually knows what they are doing.

It's so hard though.. to lose fat effectively whilst building muscle. I'm just going to stay on 1200 cals for the time being, but how much does weight training help? I do weights 3 times a week.

Thanks for reminding me. As you know, I have exactly a week before the event.. so I just want to drop 1 kg to look "better" and have a flat stomach at least, so I'm just working out/eating well to not get bloated and drop a kg of fat as well.

Who said that I was going to lose just 1 kg? It's just in one week. Otherwise I wouldn't be on this site. I kind of figured that out... or could you say.. I just had an epiphany about weight loss being long-term! ROFL

I just want to look better, not worse, and asking for tips for just that.
