Hi Everyone,
My name is Rhondee. I've always been a heavy woman for as long as I can remember, but during my four years of college (and even now), my weight has skyrocketed. I went to the doctor this week, and she berated me for my weight and lack of exercising. I was extremely pissed off and upset - so upset that I was determined to never go back to her again. However, I pushed my ego aside and realized how right she was. I have to get healthier and that means getting my body right.
I am here to find some support throughout this weight loss journey and healthy lifestyle. I always get the motivation on my own to start exercising but then I stop because there's no one there to push me. I am really looking forward to going back to my size 14 happy self. Please send me tips if you have any.

Yes, I was in a similar situation with my doctor as well. Went in for my yearly check up and he wanted to put me on all kinds of medications. You have high cholesterol, high blood pressure, you're over weight, etc. etc.....I SAID NO!!! I said I didn't have the money for them and I didn't need all the side effects from them. I told him I can do this on my own. He then said, "But, honey you aren't!" I said watch me....give me six months and I will do this. He said okay, come back in six months and we will redo blood work to see how things are going.
In six months I came back 50 pounds lighter and all blood work was GREAT!! No meds and his bottom lip was on the floor!! BAM!! He said he wished all his patience would listen to him like I did. IT CAN BE DONE!!! YOU CAN DO THIS!!! :drinker:0 -
Good for you, Rhondee! You are clearly a strong person if you can take berating about weight and exercise and turn it into something positive. Even if the doctor means well, they should never make anyone feel bad about themselves!! There are other ways to motivate. At any rate. . . .you can definitely do this. You mentioned starting to exercise but no one pushing you-do you like group classes or even a personal trainer? Sometimes those can be enough to get started and keep going.0

Hi, Rhondee. It's nice to meet you. My name is LeAnna.
Although I'm older than you (51), we are in the same boat. I went to the doctor recently and he gave me the wake up call I needed. If you'd like to add me as a friend, I'd be happy to support you any way I can during your journey.
