Thus the screen name. lol
Right now though I'm back to being a little chubby.
But I'm a far cry from where I used to be.
I had always been a big kid.
I played every sport in every season, but I also looveeeed my food.
Thats just how I grew up. I come from biracial parents [Mother =Eastern European Father = African American]
And they come from big [in every sence of the word] families.
You don't skip meals, you don't not eat what mama or papa feeds you. I was a strong child but mildly overweight.
Then puberty hit. I gained tons of weight from that alone.
I hated my weight because everyone treated me differently. I was the girl who had soo many friends but never the boyfriend.
My sophomore year of school I hit my highest weight. I stepped on the scale and bam, 210 was staring back at me.
I was wearing 14/16 jeans. I was still really athletic, but my knees were killing me, my chest, everything,. When I saw that number, something over came me that was so unreal. I began to run on my own time. One block before school became two, and three, then a mile, then two miles. The weight just poured off me. I finally reached 135-140 and stayed there for 4 years.

I'm back to 162 [even tho i've never looked as big as I weigh its still scary to see the number creep up.] Thats why i'm stopping it in its tracks now. I started gaining weight after a very tramautic event happened to me. I was the last one to see one of my best friends, my first boyfriend, my first everything, before he killed himself and the event made me feel guilty, depressed, and lost. I started to drink heavily, I ate without thinking about what I was putting in my body, and I just stopped caring from my depression.

But now with therapy, love from my boyfriend and friends, I am slowly getting back into stride with my weight loss.
I hope I could inspire someone or show that no matter what happens in life you can make it. As it was said, "This too, shall pass."

wow, well just from reading your story I know you can easily conquer this. I give you my respect and admiration, losing someone in such a way is no easy thing to handle, especially if you were the last one to see this person. Much luck and *hugs*!
  • Thanks for sharing your story. I, too, gained a lot of weight after losing someone very close to me. I'm slowly undoing the damage.... albeit 12 years later.

Your story sounds very similar to my childhood and teen years....however, I am now much older than you ;). But I really feel like I could relate. I wish you the best of luck and you know that you can do it!!
