Calories burned?

Hi guys,
Found a great home workout on pinterest of all places... Anyways I have no idea how to guess how many calories burned, typically for 30 mins of hard cardio on my elliptical I average about 300 calories. That's what I might guess for this workout, but not completely confident in that guess...

I tried to insert a pic of the workout plan but this board won't let me, here is the link below:

Did the workout twice in a row today as I didn't have time to hit the gym, anyways my whole body struggled through the last half the second time around.. I think I like this one! Any idea how many calories I would have burned? Is 300 calories a reasonable guess? It took me 30 mins to complete the workout twice.

I am a 28 year old female, 5'8", 152 lbs.

Thanks!

Sheila

the only way to accurately know how many calories burned is by checking your heart rate. You should invest in a heart rate monitor. Ive seen really really cheap ones if you are just starting out. However I have done something similar, I think my heart rate was at about 155 average beats per minute and i burned something like 350 calories. I weight 20lbs more than you though.

If you want a good strenght training workout try "You are your own gym". You can download it onto your phone.

Yes, a heart rate monitor is awesome! And I do own one(it was a gift to me, and I got it when I reached maintenance mode) However, a HRM is not a necessity for successful weight loss. I was able to lose all my weight without a HRM monitor. So it's all about personal preference for you. Since you are asking for an accurate calorie burn, then maybe you do want to invest in one. As for now you can only guesstimate.

I would enter it under Circuit Training. Whatever calculation MFP gives you, subtract 50 and go with that. That way, you are low balling it for safety, but it's a bonus for you if you burned more.

Good luck! And that looks like an awesome workout!

300 for 30 minutes of ANYTHING sounds very optimistic for a female in the 150lb range. It is likely that your elliptical is overestimating (which is common). As for the routine you posted, a reasonable safe bet would be closer to 200 calories, IMO. Just log it and adjust based on your results, that's the only way to know for sure.
