Some people with PCOS find a low carb diet is helpful. For others it doesn't seem to matter. Biggest thing is to eat at a calorie deficit. That's the key to weight loss regardless of your situation.0

Though calorie deficit is important, with PCOS so is eating low carb/low sugar. I know it sucks!! Been there for sure! I have PCOS also and really have to watch my sugar/carb intake including fruit.
OP, are you following any particular diet at the moment?0 -
I really will like to know the same thing for the best foods to eat.
I understand eating foods on a low hypoglycemic index will help with the low carb weight loss fight. I'm a few days in learning about the hypoglycemic index so I'm not too knowledgeable on the best food to eat.
For the sugar cravings drink a hommade a fruit smoothie, store bought has added sugar. In a blender 8 ozs of water, frozen strawberries, banana, and a cup of spinach helps out a lot for me.0 -
Depending on how insulin sensitive you are, you might get away with working out and then having a small soda (not after completely anaerobic stuff, though). The exercise improves the insulin sensitivity for a limited time.
That's assuming that the difficulty in losing weight is related to the insulin problems in PCOS (I have it, too, btw). I'm not sure that's all it is that causes the lbs to be stubborn in PCOS. But I used to do really well just exercising a lot, like above the calories in vs burned would suggest compared to just restricting calories. I assume that's because of the effects on insulin of exercise.
Alas, my insulin resistance has gotten worse nowStill, exercise really brings down my BG numbers (I test with a monitor). I'm not stalled on weight loss now. My BG is just higher than it should be (pre-diabetic levels). But I'm bringing those down some with my monitor and food changes!
Good luck! Even with PCOS, a lot of the stuff is quite individual. Try a lot of tactics and see how they go.0 -
No bananas on a low carb or low GI diet! Low carb, 100 grams a day or less has been found to help PCOS and many other conditions. As long as you don't feed sugar cravings, they will go away and not come back.0
