My workout playlist is starting to get a little bit old and a little less motivating. I'm looking to add some new music to my morning run.

What are your favorite and most motivating songs to work out/run to?

Try www.rockmyrun.com You can get free 30 minute mixes or pay a small amount for longer ones. I have accumulated about 5 or 6 mixes which keep me going for quite some time!

Matters what kind of music you like to listen to. Personally I couldn't imagine working out to anything other than rap or rock. My workout playlist consists of both. Rap/hip hop = Eminem / till I collapse, Nelly / #1, Fort Minor / Remember the Name. Rock = Skillet / Monster, Avenged Sevenfold / Carry On, Gun's and Roses / Welcome to the Jungle just to name a few

Just a few favorites. Most of my workout music is rock and lately a few pop songs by Lady Gaga & Pink crept in.

I totally agree! My playlist is very diverse. Some of my favorites include:

Put the Gun Down - ZZ Ward
    Down on Me - Jermih
Keep Your Head Up - Andy Grammer
Man in the Mirror - Michael Jackson
    Swing - Savage
Tonight Tonight - Hot Chelle Rae "I don't know if I'll make it, but watch how good I fake it!"
    Stand - Rascal Flatts
    Radioactive - Imagine Dragons
    E.T. - Katy Perry

Definitely need some new songs to add to the mix though!

    Crazytrain - Ozzy Osbourne
The Monster - Eminem ft. Rhianna
    Circus - Britney Spears
Can't Hold Us - Macklemore & Ryan Lewis
Hit the Lights - Jay Sean
    Bombs over Bagdad - OutKast
    Poison - Bell Biv Devoe
Let's Go - Calvin Harris ft. Neyo

Yeah. I'm kinda all over the place.
  • The music i listen to when i go out for a run is Hard House, Hardstyle or any other form of the harder side of dance music. It has a fast beat to it so when i feel myself slowing down is skip the song to a more upbeat tempo and pick the pace up. Not sure if it would help or have the same effect in a gym but it does the job when i'm out running

More Human than Human by White Zombie. The moaning in the beginning really gets me amped for lifting.

I tune my Pandora station over to either Beck (and all similar pop-rock with hip-hop and techno influences - like Beastie Boys) or Rage Against the Machine (a band I don't really have a use for other than working out).

One time, I tried my favorite guy, Frank Sinatra and his compatriots of crooners - on the StairMaster, I was "Singing in the Rain"...so, crooners, not so much workout music.

This may seem a bit radical, but try it without any music. I would have been incredulous two months ago if I read that. However, I plan on running a race in June through the city of Boston and there are no headphones allowed. So I tried it to see if I could and oddly, I enjoyed it. It really helps me get lost in my thoughts, I'm more in tune with my breathing and I get in the zone a lot quicker.

I can't bring myself to do it on days where I'm forced to run on a treadmill, mind you but outside I've been enjoying being left to my thoughts.

My running trainer actually told me not to listen to music when I run but to focus on my form and all that. I just cant do it! I enjoy the feeling of running when I'm done but during the process I need something to distract me from thinking about running. Otherwise, I'd never get very far :(
