I just recently had to have back surgery. I had 2 rods and 6 screws put in. It was nothing that I did wrong it was just a hereditary thing. My question is does anyone know of any exercises I can do to ease myself back into working out. As of right now I am a week post op and the doctor said he wont even consider letting me exercise until January and that there will be certain things I will never be allowed to do again like running.

ask your doctor, my husband recently had surgery on his back and he's not allowed to lift anything heavy for a month. not even our kids or shopping bags or anything. The back is highly complex, some kinds of injuries/problems are made worse by exercise, others are improved by it. So really you have to take advice from your doctor or physio, i.e. someone medically qualified who has the specific information about your condition.

ETA: you should tell your doctor about what exercise you want to do, and get them to refer you to a physio who can write you a program to get you back into exercising fully again (or as fully as your condition will allow you).

Listen to your doctor or Physiotherapist. They are both far more qualified than anyone on here to comment.
