IDK why but anything with more than just a teeny tiny pinch of cumin is inedible for me.

While when I see on cooking shows and on recipes that people put like a tablespoon or more of the thing! WHYYYYY?

Replies

  • Because cumin is amazing. Why is this even a question?
    Kidding.

People like what they like and dislike what they dislike.

I love that stuff but you shouldn't overdo it. I think a tablespoon is too much.

I think the difference in perception of cumin is linked to a genetic variation in sense of smell. Smell and taste are closely linked. So, it tastes/smells different to people.

Certain foods cannot taste/smell Mexican/Southwest to me without cumin. I love cumin if it's ground but I can have a difficult time with the seeds. They are too aromatic and the essential oil seems to come out more.

what's not to like? i tend to add cumin to ... well almost everything. it has a strong presence so I don't add too much. especially good with lentil soup, hummus, bean soup, mediterranean style chicken, etc

A little goes a long way ... I love the flavor of cumin but a tablespoon to a normal meal serving may be a bit overwhelming.

I add mass amounts of cumin to my taco meats lol it's a bit ridiculous to be honest, but that's really the only time I ever think to use it. I should expand my cumin horizons...

It is what makes marinara with ground beef into chile. Cooked ground beef into taco meat. If you are not a fan of Tex/Mex (not Mexican), you probable don't like it. I am not a fan of Tex/Mex, but love Mexican food.

    Personal Taste.

Why do I like Cilantro and my daughter doesn't?
Why do I like sushi and my wife doesn't care for it?
Why does everyone like mint? I hate it.

If everyone had the seme tastes, there would only be one fast food franchise, but it would be on every corner.

    Next question?

    It feels amazing.

Especially in the football showers with the coach doing the cooking!
  • I love cumin. Nothing like cumin over a couple of nice juicy plump breasts.
  • I love cumin all over some plump rump roast..cumin on tacos cumin on tongue...ahh yes.

If your Indian , A tablespoon is like a pinch is to those that never use it ! LOLOL… I love it and can`t get enough.

If you can`t stand it , it may be because you are throwing it in recipes without frying it and the flavor is nothing like it should be .

Wondered how long that would take. MFP never disappoints.
