Hi all! I have a serious goal to reach and am looking to share this with others who need the motivation and the support to reach their own as well…

As much as I do have a weight goal in mind, simply losing weight and reaching a number of pounds is not necessarily my dream. I WANT A LIFESTYLE CHANGE. It's hard when you know very well that you have the ability to reach those goals but find yourself still struggling to get there. I have decided to adopt my go getting tendencies/nature to that of my weight and health as well!

So my goal, really? I have a dream to go out door rock climbing, you know, what crazy people do when they tie themselves to one end of a rope and climb a big rock while supposedly someone else below with the other end supports them?? That's my goal. Now I know that a necessary weight isn't needed to achieve this, but its not about weight, its about being in that zone of fitness, accomplishment, achievement. I often compare good health with climbing the top of the mountain and seeing what one has just scaled. I have dealt with obesity at a very young age (220 at 9!!!!!) I lost it and am at 160 at 26 years old. I'm not dying, but I could do better. I love working out, but I want to be fitter, stronger! I am a diabetic and a pescatarian so it's important to watch what I consume (from lessening the sugar to increasing the protein).

I already hike, but I want to take this to another level. Anyone interested in being the best they can be? Share your fitness dream (don't be bashful! Truth be told, I want to return back to brazil next year and samba in a two piece without my body jiggling beyond it's suppose to lol :) )…I wish to start of a community of people eager to climb their own mountains in life.

So here are my current Stats:
Current Weight: 160 (f)
Fitness Goal: Strength training for outdoor rock climbing sometime next spring….or samba a Carnival next february (if I get the chance to return)
Workout schedule: 6 days a week (includes cardio such as Zumba 2x's a week, circuit training 3x's a week, one day free strength training)
Food plan goals: Increase protein and veggie intake; eat 4-6 meals a day, cook more meals at home to bring to work)

The above are some of my goals to get started. Please note, these are my goals which I have already started and committed to, therefore I know what my body can handle and what it cannot. I am only open to further suggestions, not critiques, as to how to best achieve them, so please refrain from being a crab in the bucket!

I hope others will be interested and if there is already a challenge that exist, please let me know!! I'd love to join! Otherwise, let's hold each other accountable and let's climb this mountain of weight loss and better health together!

Technique and flexibility are important in rock climbing, but grip strength is key.
So if you're not already climbing, I'd first - get climbing. Best way to improve your grip strength for climbing.
If you don't have anyone to do rope climbing with, look to bouldering. Both probably indoor this time of year. Boulder is low level stuff and doesn't use ropes - there are big padded mats for falling. You are absolutely capable of doing this now if you're not.

When I was a smidge over your weight, I was climbing the best I have - but to be fair I'm a 6' bloke - was still limited by grip strength and that takes a lot longer than muscle strength to gain. Compared to a lighter friend of mine I could do more arduous and longer routes, but when it came to small holds, he always had the better of me as his grip strength to weight ratio was way better.
