late night snack=mistake

why i felt compelled to eat 400-500 calories of cheese plus crackers after dinner, i do not know. I just feel like crap about it. weight up. and my ring barely fit on finger. yes, i am figuring some is water weight...cheese and crackers are both high in sodium. i also drank 24 ounces during the early morning (which I did not expel entirely).

why am i posting? sympathy, motivation...a kick in the butt.

You can't change what was...just what will be. Start with a clean slate today. I did the same last night with hummus and pita chips! LOL

Sounds like a good carb load for today's workout.

Did that put you above your target numbers for the day?
    If not, don't sweat it.

If it did, and you just like an evening snack, you need to plan it in to your day. I find that no matter what I eat during the day, sometime just before bed, I wanna eat. So, I eat less in the morning and leave those calories for when I know I'll feel compelled to consume them.

    ^^ And this...

If you don't learn to forgive yourself for getting off track, eventually you become so discouraged that you quit. Put it behind you.
  • Its ok to do this every once in a while. It helps you not feel so deprived. Look at the bright side... You did it once, you realized how bad it made you feel, and you got back on the wagon. Keep up the good work! You can do it!

I had a moment of insanity last night too with a bag of Hershey's kisses that only planned to have a few but ate whole bag.Today I am doing well and have forgiven myself for doing the stupid thing. I am a work-in-progress. Learning to forgive yourself is key and I am going to keep trying till I get this right. 100 pounds to go!

I put this in another thread, but I'll change the numbers for you. Also, I'm going to make a couple of assumptions.

To lose 1 lb per week, we put ourselves at approximately a 500 Calorie per day deficit. That equals 3500 Calories per week. It may or may not be exactly 3500 Calories per lb of fat, but it's close enough.

Assuming you are on a 500 Calorie per day deficit - and eat at that deficit for 6 days - you have a weekly deficit of 3000 Calories.

Add in one day of 300 Calories as a surplus (over maintenance), and you are at a weekly deficit of 2700 Calories.

    2700/3500 = 0.77.

As such, even with this day of excess, you are on track to lose over 3/4 lb of fat this week.

    That's good, right?
