My first NSV with running

I started out walking/jogging back in September. About 2 mins of jogging for every 10 mins of walking for a total of 30 mins.
Well today I decided I would go for a short tun outside. It was cool out, but felt great. I started with my 3-5 min of walking and then started running. I was enjoying it so much I just kept going. 6.2km's later I arrived back at home. It took me 47mins from start to finish.
I have never run that far or that fast in my life.
I was so happy.
I am down a total of 30.2 lbs since starting in September and am hoping to maybe squeeze out another 9.8 before Christmas.
Not sure if it's possible, but with a run like that, anything is possible

Outstanding! Keep up the running and you will be amazed at just how far you end up going. I highly recommend tracking all of your walking and running (I use a phone app).0

Way to go! Now do you see where the "runners high" comes from? I didn't get it for so long... until I ran a 5k without stopping
. You'll be proud of yourself all day!

Congrats, I discovered that I loved running last summer. It's a life changer, I'm glad you've bought into it!0

thank you everyone.
For those that run, when you started out, did you rest for a day or did you rest for 2 days?
I don't want to overdo it, but on the other hand, want to keep pushing forward to increase stamina and speed.0 -
Congrats! That is a great NSV!!! This is the first year of my life where I have actually really enjoyed running. I started entering 5k races and did my first 10k race on Thanksgiving day. When I started running I would run then cross train the next day by doing elliptical or lifting weights. Now I can run most days in a row without feeling much strain on my body. I'd say pay attention to what your body tells you and you will probably be just fine:).0

Decided to try that 6.27km's again yesterday (even though it was windy and cold). I was a little slower (55mins) but it still felt pretty awesome to get that run in again.
Hoping to see the weight drop and start training for a 10km run and then *fingers crossed* a half marathon in the fall??
Does anyone know a good site or the best way to figure out how many calories burned while running?
I use NIKE Plus on my IPod, and it said 770 calories burned, but I am not sure if that is too high??0 -
I've always run but after surgery a couple of years ago I was out for three months recovering. So when I started back I ran one day and used the elliptical the off day so it was easier on my joints - I started the elliptical on one of the lowest settings. I wasn't out to prove anything, just to help my cardio get back on track. I took off Sundays. I still take off one and sometimes two days a week so my body can recover.
Cheers to you on your accomplishment! This is awesome.
