                    Hello, I'm new to this site and have started calorie counting since Monday. Ive lost 3lbs so far. I also have a 8 month old who is fully breast fed. I am currently on a 1500-1800 calorie goal. I run/walk on my treadmill a few times a week also but thats about it on exercise. Does anyone know if the calorie/workout plan I have so far is good enough? Thanks

            My understanding is that women who breastfeed shouldn't have too large of a calorie deficit. A 500 calorie deficit should be fine, but you might want to confirm that with your doctor.
Most good fitness plans include full-body strength training, so i would add that, to keep you strong, and keep your metabolism up. A popular book is New Rules of Lifting for Women.0 - 
            Thank you. I contacted my doctor and she said about 1500 to 1800 should be fine. Im afraid if I exercise a lot with what my body is already burning that my supply will decrease. I don't what what I eat just how much I eat. Is that still ok. For instance today for lunch I had left over taco salad. The meat was 96 lean 4 fat with my veges and salsa. Is this an ok choice to still lose weight?0

I don't know what that means, I'm afraid.
You lose weight through a calorie deficit no matter what it is that you are eating. Track and log everything. Log your exercise accurately.0 - 
            ^^This. Also, IMO you should be eating your exercise calories back. Not to be alarmist, but if your milk production begins to suffer, it can be tough to get it back up to speed.0

            I know. I'm afraid it could happen. So far its fine. I cant tell any difference with my supply. Just worries me since I'm wanting to diet and breastfeeding at the same time.0

            My advice is to eat a wide variety of food, including foods high in good fats, like avocado, to keep the milk production up.
Just make sure you are eating at least 1500 net everyday (i.e eat back exercise calories). Since the doctor said that was fine, I think as long as you are getting to at least 1500 calories everyday you should be fine.
So yeah, the 1500-1800 goal sounds like a good plan to me.0 -
