Anyone had ACL surgery and can recommend the best option?
I just hit 30 and tore up my right ACL playing hockey, the surgeon gave me the usual option for the source; patella or leg muscle. I had my left ACL already repaired with a patella but now that I am older the surgeon is recommending to go for the muscle graft.

I have had both of my ACLs reconstructed, and had the hamstring graft both times.
My first one healed up very well, and I am currently just over a month out from the second one, and I'm hoping for the same positive outcome.
I have also had friends who had success with the patellar graft.
I would recommend going with whatever the surgeon thinks is best! Both have their own pros and cons!0 -
i had my left acl reconstructed when i was 35 with a patellar graft. i tore it playing soccer and returned to playing soccer w/o any problems and still play now 5 years later.0
