Jillian Michaels vs Insanity

Hi there.
I'm new to this as far as "community boards" go so I apologize if this topic is already placed somewhere else. I just want an honest opinion. I have been doing Insanity for quite some time. I'm pretty sure it's my 5th round through with a 2 week break in between completion of the 60 days. I'm sort of getting bored with it. Not saying it's not hard because IT'S EXTREMELY HARD! I just want to change it up for a minute. I'm afraid that if I go to something like Ripped in 30 or 30 Day Shred, it won't give me the burn factor like Insanity. I guess my question is, have any of you had effective results from Jillian Michaels workouts AFTER Insanity? I have no doubt that Jillian Michaels kicks butt! I almost feel like I've ruined my workouts now b/c nothing will compare w/Insanity, like my body won't respond now to anything unless it's HARD CORE. Let's face it, I can't do this for the rest of my life! I'm female, 40 and need to lose 15 lbs. Any 'friendly' help (LOL) is welcomed and needed! I must say, I feel very BLESSED to be able to even complete a workout in the Insanity program! God is Good!

I've done both. Insanity is more challenging than 30DS, but I would recommend Jillian Michael's Body Revolution over Insanity. Insanity is primarily cardio, with any strength/resistance training coming from body weight exercises. It moves at such a fast pace, there isn't much emphasis on form. JM Body Revolution is more intense than 30 DS, and while you may not be as drenched when you are done with Insanity, it is a 12 week strength training workout, with one cardio routine a week. You can add heavier weights to progress. A friend of mine who was training for Tough Mudder showed me his routine and it was very similar to JM Body Revolution, with the exception of how heavy he went with the weights. Or you could do a hybrid routine, JM Body Revolution for strength training and Insanity for the cardio, that way you get the best of both worlds.0

I've never done Jillian's Body Revolution, but I've nearly finished Insanity. I have lots of Jillian DVDs and think they may seem easy after Insanity, however I also have lots of Bob Harper DVDs and think they will still be a challenge! I'm planning on doing a few weeks of Bob's DVDs before doing another round of Insanity :happy:0

THANK YOU!!!! This is exactly what I needed. You actually covered every single question I had but didn't know how to word. I cannot thank you enough for your knowledge and help! I am going to add JMBR to my CHRISTmas list this year! I've researched it and totally agree with your advice. Thank you so much for getting back with me!0

You can buy all of Bob Harper's "Inside Out Method" DVD's on one disc right now at Target for $10.00. They are crazy hard but doable. Throw in his kettlebell workouts and it just raises the bar. I did try Body Revolution and did like it for the challenge but never did finish though for some reason...Hmmm.
In Bob we trust.:laugh:0 -
There is a whole world of excellent fitness videos outside Beachbody and Biggest Loser trainers. Check out collagevideo.com and videofitness.com (a whole forum about fitness videos).0

I've never done Insantity, However, if I do JM's 30 Day Shred Levels 2 and 3 together back to back (total workout 60 minutes), I get quite a burn.
It also is going to depend on how heavy weights you use. I have 3 lb, 5 lb, 8 lb and 12 lb pairs.
I am in very decent shape and I would recommend these workouts to anybody, regardless of their fitness level. You can modify them if you are a beginner,. She also offers advanced alternative moves for those who are at a higher level of fitness.
I'm in the same boat as you. I own all of Jillian Michael's DVDs have them each memorized because I've been doing it so long. In the last couple of months, I was rarely ever sore from a workout. I was in dire need of a change, so I have just made the switch over to P90X as of two days ago. I'm pretty sore today, so that tells me I did the right thing.0
