Runtastic - Accurate calorie burn?

Does anyone else use runtastic and if so, how accurate do you find the calorie burn?

I used it for my lunch time walk and it told me 117 calories for 1.2 miles (totally flat) so I thought that seemed about right.

I just took my youngest and the dog for a walk in the woods, it was slow going, we did 2.5 miles in 1 hour and 20 mins. There were some small hills up and down and I know Runtastic does take elevation in to the equation. But it told me it was 465 calorie burn.

Has anyone ever been able to use a HRM to check how accurate the calories are?

I'm saving up to get a HRM but can't afford one right now.

I have a fitbit but also use runtastic mostly for timing purposes. Both give me close to the same burn. Don't have a hrm to test against.

I use Runtastic. I don't have a HRM, but it's accurate to me.

Seems high for the second walk. I'd say about half that.

I have used lots of running apps while using my hrm---none say the same thing. I run very short distances very slowly (1.3 miles in about 14 minutes or so, I usually run that distance or very rarely twice that--it is around the block for me).

Runtastic is always a bit higher in calories than my hrm by about 10-20%. Endomodo is ridiculously high (double everything else).

Hi sorry to be dense but what is an HRM?
Also I don't know if anybody can help but since I have updated the pedometer it has started to double the calories that I burn - so a 20 minute walk at 3 miles an hour would usually burn 60 cal but now the exact same walk burns 120 cal can anybody shed any light on this? I may have to stop using the app because I need something that is more accurate.

HRM is a Heart Rate Monitor by taking avg heart rate and your details you can fairly accurately calculate calories.
