Weight loss and food.

So I've gone from 193lbs to about 147 (my "steady" weight). Most of my weight loss has come from me working (mainly on my feet all day) and cutting back on junk big time, fast food and soda. I've never really "worked out" aside from walking/jogging.
I've decided to start working out. A good friend of mine has turned me onto pilates (sp?) and I want to give it a try. Not I have never tried it but I figured it's something to get me moving since I have become a stay at home mom and only work part time (fri-sun).
My biggest question is food. According to the calorie deal I'm supposed to consume around 1200 a day. The thing is I know for a fact I don't take in that many a day. I am not a breakfast person, I sort of "eat" lunch and dinner is usually my main meal of the day.
Another thing, I'm not a breakfast person, but should I eat before or after a workout? What does a meal day look like for you?
Food has always been my biggest issue. I've gone from eating to much, to probably not enough!
Help!

At this stage, it doesn't matter when you eat.
Spend a bit of time and research what your TDEE is and how to establish it. Now, take that number, subtract 10-20% and eat that many calories a day however you want. And vuala, there's your weightloss strategy!0 -

Thanks! I'll be doing some research over the next few days. I'm still confused about all of it but I'm sure i'll get the hang of it in no time.0 -

how do you know you don't consume that much? In reality it's actually not that much, some people here have that for breakfast.0
