I'm new and in desperate need of some motivation. I'm a binge eater. As it's my first time trying lose weight I'm having some troubles with temptations. When I look at myself I see a fat, ugly person. I struggle to weigh myself and find it even harder to go to a doctor. I'm so scared when a doctor asks me the get on the scale. I know I need to lose weight. I can't face going to a personal trainer or even a gym. I'm get to embarrassed. I'm scared of what I may become if I don't lose weight but I can't seem to do anything about it. I NEED HELP!

Hey sweetie, I totally understand. I actually have an eating disorder which means I constantly am anxious about everything relating to my weight and food etc. One thing I have learned is to take it all in baby steps. One thing at a time. If you binge, take a deep breath, tell yourself that you are beautiful no matter what. Go for little walks to help you, just little ones if that's all you can handle. Even if it's 10 minutes at a snail's pace, it's better than the couch. You are here, asking for help, that is something for sure! Don't cut out all your foods that you like. Baby steps remember. That will help you not binge. So make small changes, ones you feel you can handle. It's a slow process, not a race. Your worth is not in what you weigh anyway.

Personally I would make my first stop the doctors office or at least a dietician. People are always pushing "will power will power will power"....but for some people there are underlying issues. (Physical or Psychological) Do yourself the favor and rule all of that out before you start.

    - Just my opinion. Good luck :)
  • go for a walk.no matter how slow you go you will still be lapping those on the couch.
Also if you have a games console like an xbox with kinect or a wii (i have a 360 with kinect)because i hate the gym and cant actually afford to go to h=the gm i bough some cheap fitness games like nike kinect fitness, your shape fitness evolved, zuma even kinect adventures is pretty active and sooo much fun

if you have a favourite fruit of veg swap some sugary snacks for them when you get the munchies.

    Good luck :)
  • oh and if you are scared to go to your doctor go to one in a near by town or something if you are allowed?

Here are my tips for those getting started:

    1) Determine your BMR/TDEE so that you know what amount of calories (on average) you should be eating to lose weight at a healthy pace. If you use the MFP tools, they'll compute this for you.
    2) Log everything. Don't eat it if you can't log it. Take a multivitamin everyday with food.
    3) Don't drink your calories. Try to get to a point where all you drink is water.
    4) Walk or jog or run... a lot! Then start strength training when you're up to it.

Forget the scale. Don't obsess about daily changes in weight. - they don't mean anything. What you should be focusing on are long term changes to your lifestyle. The weight WILL come off. You CAN do it. The math works and it doesn't lie. It just takes time.

This is not a diet and you don't have to deny yourself anything you crave, you just have to eat in moderation and be accountable for what you put in your mouth. For example, if you go over on Monday by 300 calories, then go under on Tuesday and Wednesday by 150 calories each day. Be honest with your log. Be accurate. Be accountable. You can lose the weight and it will happen faster than you realize when you make this a lifestyle change.

This is great advice!! But I think the one thing you can't forget ... be consistent!! You have to make the commitment to yourself... YOU CAN DO THIS!!
