I already ate all I can today, with nothing left for the evening except tea
Disillusioned after a year of trying Atkins and failing...
Going back to carbs because I need the energy for triathlon
25 lbs minimum to lose. Going 1500kcal a day plus what I need for sport.
Anyone think that's too much?
I can't do more and train hard or am I just making excuses!!!!?
Help please!

Hi Well done for starting.
I think that 1500 is a good calorie goal if you want to lose steadily and keep it off. Remember that you can vary your intake day to day, a little bit more here, a little bit less there, as long as it averages out right each week.
I find that some days I struggle to eat more than 1200 and other days I eat around 1800, but it tends to average out around the 1500-1600 mark most weeks. I am slowly and steadily losing weight.
The main thing is that you decide on a calorie intake range that is realistic for you right now. You can always change it later. If 1500 becomes comfortable you colud try lowering it and see how you feel.
Just don't set your calorie goal too low or your body may slow your metabolism down to compensate. I remember reading a good article on one of the other threads about realistic long term weight loss. I will see if I can find it for you.0 -
Just increased my calories from 1200 to 1490, doing a little exercise I have never gone hungry and never eat above half my exercise calories so you should not be having a problem if you are training hard.
If I was in the situation you describe I would eat what I wanted and burn the calories plus 50% with a little cardio.0 -

Great post, thanks
Yes the average thing makes a lot of sense
I like what the other responder said about eating half the exercise kcal
That makes sense as well as averages
Good luck!0 -

Half exercise kcal sounds like a great idea
