Does anyone have the Fitbit Flex?
What do you think about it and what are some of its pros and cons?

I've had mine since October and have only gone one day without it. I love it and just finally synced it with MFP. The only time I don't wear it is in the shower, but they say you can because it is waterproof. It holds a charge for about 5 days so while I am showering I put it on charge. I love the silent alarm. I don't think you will be disappointed. Good luck

I wear mine every day. It links really well with MFP. I recommend it.

Fitbit Flex and I started out in a love-hate relationship. I soon figured out I didn't have it connected to the app on my iPhone. Ha ha
Once I got it connected, I was very pleased to see the data--How I slept, my steps, miles traveled, calories burned. I'm still disconcerted when I see the active minutes, but I think it's because I'm not much of a runner. I do P90X and such workouts. Many of the calories burned by these sort of workouts will not track accurate calories. But I'm not too concerned about it since I know I did the work. I like to see the graph chart of calories burned because I can see when I was most active in the day.

The band is comfortable. I only take it off to shower, and put it right back on after. I sleep with it on.

I'm kinda disappointed that not all the online features for your account are available with the app. It takes up time going to the website and logging in.

Overall, Fitbit Flex is decent as a pedometer and overall activity monitor. This is my first device like this.

Meh, I didn't care for Fitbit. But that is me, I just didn't see how something on my wrist could really give me all the accuracy they call for it. I swapped it out for a body media core armband ( did a test before I returned the fitbit and the fitbit and body media were off by 200 calories) seeing as the body media had more information about it and actually goes off the artery connected to your heart in your arm. I figured it was much more accurate than the fitbit. -shrugs- but who knows, it has been spot on with my weight loss and it works for me :)

Does the BMF use your heart rate or pulse for anything? I thought it was just skin impedence, temp and moisture in those sensors.

I had a Flex and returned it after one day. I had a BodyMedia Fit and sold it after a few months. I like the clip-on style Fitbits. I'm ok with the estimated calorie burn. It's all estimates, and I lose pretty much right on what mine predicts I should based on my logged deficits so it's accurate for me.

i love my fitbit flex. I have had mine since August and think it has made a huge difference in my weight loss and fitness goals. I never take mine off except when it is charging. It does not do a great job of tracking some things, but I just log those on MFP and since I have the accounts synced the activity gets added, and most of the time it works without a hitch. I don't care to get a force as I don't need anymore bells and whistles. I love the goals it gives you and do my level best to make sure that I have 4 green smiley faces by the end of the day every day. I have asked my hubby for a heart rate monitor so I can be more accurate when logging things like horse grooming/riding and doing jazzercise , videos or strength/core training.

I agree on the extra $30 for the fitbit force - I LOVE mine!! I know someone who has the flex - which has dots as your display to show if you met your goals, the force shows you on the display itself (which is also a watch) how many steps, calories burned, etc... Every night I go home and sync on mini ipad - takes a second to sync. Only drawback is I wish I would have know was - it only works with certain devices - didn't work with my surface, I was then told by fitbit that it only works with ipads, iphones, and Samsung devices - tried using on an ipad - didn't work - turns out it has to be an ipad 3, 4 or mini ipad (we have 2 ipad 2's and a mini - so I took hubby's mini ipad). I was so excited to finally get it and then it wasn't working - but once we had the correct device - I was good to go. I LOVE it!!! Definitely go for the Force!!!

I bought the Zip after checking out all the types. I really don't want a big rubber bracelet on all the time and I've heard a lot of people saying the wrist band isn't very accurate when it comes to steps. I clip my Zip on my bra in the morning and just forget about it. No one sees it, it does it's job and it seems very accurate. I don't care how much or well I sleep so it works fine for me.

    Thanks everyone!

I ended up buying the Slate Fitbit Flex off of Amazon (for some reason it was $10 cheaper than the Black one, score!) and it should be showing up in my mailbox sometime today! I'm definitely excited for it. I get that there are some drawbacks to it that the Fitbit Force does provide, but as a starting off point, I think that the Flex will be just perfect. Plus, if I'm dishing out a hundred bucks, I'll hopefully be more inclined to put in some extra work.

I was also wondering, what are the benefits of wearing it in the shower? I understand that it is waterproof, but I don't feel like it's necessary for it to be tracking my shampoo sessions. Is is just for convenience, so you don't have to take it on and off all the time (at home, at the gym, etc.)?

Yes, it's just for convenience. I'd take it off because water does get in the little pocket where the gadget sits and it probably takes forever to dry. So say people who have it, anyway.

I think the Flex is a nice option, if you can handle a rubber bracelet on all the time and don't make a habit of walking while holding treadmill bars. I thought the 5-light display gave plenty of info, especially once you noticed the detail in the last flicker. And if you have a phone it synchs to, who needs a detailed display? Just look at your phone. The Force looks huge and you can't swap bands.

I've just gotten in the habit of leaving mine on all the time. I don't have a problem with it holding water when I shower. i think you will love it! Best $100 i ever spent!
