Guys--If you decided to read this anyway I will tell you it is about my period. If you still want to continue reading I find that awkward, but have at it! haha
I'm on the generic form of Desogen (Apri) which is a 21 active pills 7 sugar pill Birth Control. The doctor prescribed it as follows: I take 3 packs of active pills and then let my body have a period. Until I started exercising this worked great. I would go about 10weeks without a period and then have my period for 4-6 days. Then I would go another 10weeks, etc. etc. I've noticed since I've been losing weight and exercising my body has changed its course. I can't go a month without a period. I'm on my first pack with 2 active pills left and I'm spotting and shedding lining. Is this a good thing? Since I was 12 I have never had a regular period. I have always been irregular. That is why I'm on BCP--to make it normal. But now, the BCP isn't working and my body wants a normal "once a month" cycle. So, I feel like I should listen to my body and maybe stop taking BCP. Any thoughts?

Two things: Number one - go talk to your doc immediately about any changes like this, just to be safe/sure. Number two, my period changed significantly after I started exercising and losing weight. Used to be 6-7 days max, now TEN days of teensy spotting (SO annoying) and two heavy days. Seriously UGH. Been doing that for two years, then about a month ago I started training to run more intensely - I'm trying to run faster and longer distances. And guess what? This last period ended in 6 days. Wha???
But seriously though - doctor. Now. K?0 -
I'm on the same form of April as well but I'm 28 day cycle and I don't skip periods. I've been on it for 7 plus years and my period has always been like clock work. Once I started exercising and losing weight my period started to become spotty and kind of erratic. So I think personally it's just the exercise and weight loss. Also the fact that your body still needs to get used to taking the pills ( that can actually take months for your body to regulate the hormones). Any form of change in your life can impact your hormones, maybe you just need to switch to another birth control, one that doesn't make you skip periods. Just know you are not alone! I wouldn't worry too much about it but if you have concerns talk with your gynecologist as they can help ease your anxiety about it.0

It's very normal for your menstrual cycle to change with weight loss, and even weight gain too. When I was a twig, my periods were so heavy and I had endometriosis with severe cramps. I would stay home from school in bed that's how bad it was. Now that I've gained 100 lbs, I barely get a period and my GYN thinks I might have PCOS but because I am already on Metformin for my insulin resistance, I don't display all of the symptoms of PCOS because they are already being taken care of by the Metformin.
I'd stil contact your GYN though.0
