So i found a can of beans in the pantry and I was hungry, so I came up with this recipe earlier today. It's only 97 Calories Per Patty! :D

With a blend of spices, you can turn a boring can of beans into a tasty burger patty! I don’t like a lot of cumin so I just put a pinch but you can adjust the amount according to your taste :)

I served it with a sauce that is a mix of Mayo, Sweet Pickle Relish, a bit of Dijon mustard, avocado and a bit of lime/lemon juice, mozzarella and tomato. All in a piece of high fiber whole wheat sandwich loaf bread.

1 (400g) can Chick Peas
1/4 cup sliced mushrooms of your choice
(I used canned button mushrooms since it’s the only one I got in the pantry)
1 large egg
1 Small Red Onion
5 Cloves of garlic
1 tbsp Chopped spring onion
1/8 tsp Cumin
1/8 tsp Ground Ginger
1/8 tsp Onion Powder
1/4 tsp Cayenne Pepper
1/4 tsp Garlic Powder
Pinch of All Spice
Pinch of Ground Cloves
1 tsp Honey
1 tbsp Soy Sauce
1 tbsp Ketchup
1 tbsp Flour
1 tbsp Cornstarch
Pinch of Salt
Pinch of Pepper

• Put the beans, onion, garlic and egg in a food processor or blender and pulse everything together until the mixture looks somewhere in between chunky and smooth. If the mixture is too smooth, the patty will fall apart.
• Put the mixture in a bowl and mix all the other ingredients.
• Form 9 patties out of the mixture. Use a medium heat pan to fry the burgers.
• Use about a tablespoon of canola oil or nonstick spray to fry the patties since it helps form the crispy toasted yummy exterior if you use a bit. Don’t flip until a crust has formed on the surface of the patty, you will know by trying to slide the patty to the side, if it moves easily, then it’s ready to be flipped.
