Job interview attire

I have a job interview Monday to be a manager for a clothing store. The lady said I do not need to dress professional for the interview. She wants to see what my sense of style is.

Do I dress professional anyway?
Wear a pair of this company's jeans and a trendy top?
Wear a cute dress and tights?

What store? I'd wear something current from the store, basically what you would be wearing if you were working there.

As manager, you want to dress more professionally than the average sales clerk. Is this a high end fashion store or it is a trendy cookie cutter fashion store? If this is a high end store, I would wear a pair of quality, classic slacks, not jeans to show your understanding of classic fashion, a blouse/top of current fashion and accessorize with cutting edge but understated trendiness. If this is a Rue 21 or Forever 21, just wear something from the store.

ETA: I just googled Maurice's - still going with the classic slacks, then top it off with one of Maurice's "must have" pieces, but be careful that you don't look like you just pulled clothes off a mannequin - you want to showcase YOUR fashion sense, not your ability to copy-cat.

Maurices is kind of like a Rue 21 type store. The jeans are usually like 40-50. The shirts are like 20-30 and up. It is not like an Old Navy and definitely not a discount store. But it is not a high end designer store.

I was thinking about wearing black trousers with a cute red lacey shirt and a chunky beaded necklace. I have several pairs of glasses so I am going to wear a pair of my designer glasses to pull the outfit together.

I think this sounds great. What's most important is that you're wearing something you feel confident in.

Dress for the job you want, not the job you will get. Meaning dress how you think a retail manager should dress. Yes, I agree something in style, but classic is always in style.

Oh girl!!! I LOVE Maurice's! Most of my clothes are from there!

Their SAs know how to suggest great and FLATTERING clothes.
That's a high priority to them!

My suggestion? Find a really nice pair of stylish & figure flattering jeans (their Vigoss jeans are perfect for me, but a bit pricey) and clothes that are similar in style to what's in the store. Maybe a great scarf that flatters your coloring?
Focus on FLATTERING (probably not shredded-looking jeans, though) and current.

No "suit-type" dressing... They don't sell that there and their SAs don't wear it to work.

The job you want (at Maurice's) is one of helping others find flattering and stylish clothes.
Keep us posted and good luck!!!

    Cute dress, tights, boots, accessories!

The red lacy top, chunky necklace & black trousers sounds great too.
