i've really gotten away from my focus of being healthy for my family in the last two months. Last night while we were in the movies we got a call that one of our best friends, 39 YEARS OLD, had died at home of an apparent heart attack. Carson was a great man. He has spent his adult life taking care of his severly obese mother instead of marrying and having children of his own. She is in rehab right now and can't move to a nursing home because they don't have the equipment to move her or a bed that will fit her. Carson was on the same road as his mom. We had talked to him not two weeks ago and we both said "Carson is going to die if he doesn't get it under control". Who's going to take care of his mom now? I'm so sad for his family and our loss of a wonderful friend. He had a great sense of humor and you could tell when he came in and gave you the big bear hug that he loved you. THe last time we saw each other the last thing we said was "Love you buddy" and that was always the way we ended a night out or a phone call.
I'm hoping if you are reading this that you make one change today that will make you healthier...just one. Love you guys and without MFP I couldn't ahve done as well as I have losing. Now it's time to get the focus back on what's important...it's not fitting into those size 8 jeans...it's about living a long healthy life to be there for my parents, for my husband, my friends and most importantly my son.

So sorry for your loss. I know it can be devastating but hang in there! You are right though we each need to be healthy for ourselves and our family and friends. Life is too unpredictable and short for anything less. Keep the goals in sight. You have done an awesome job!0

I am so sorry to hear of the loss of your friend. May the happy memories comfort you in this very sad time. I have lost focus on fitting into the smaller pair of jeans rather than just being healthy!! Thank you for the reminder!!0

Truly sorry for your loss. So young too. Makes me sad.
I know right now I'm fairly healthy (Crosses fingers) but at my weight I am asking for trouble. So I'm here.0 -

I hid my Halloween candy behind my swimsuit. LOL That's a motivator.
Thank you for sharing this story. I am on a mission to be healthier for my daughter and myself. It would be nice to be skinnier but I would first like to be healthier.0 -
Amanda,
I am sorry for the loss. That is terrible news.
I am allowing myself a little Halloween candy everyday. I can't take it. I also feel that if I give myself one hershey kiss it is better then ignoring it for a day or two and then eat 2304723048 hershey kisses!0 -
I am really sorry for your loss. Hopefully your story can save others, which I am sure it will. It definitly opened up my eyes. When I try to give myself an excuse to not go to the gym in the morning, I will remember your story, get myself out of bed and not complain. I think it's almost like for instance, if someone has cancer, they fight as hard as they can. Carrying around a lot of extra weight is like having a sickness, we must fight the weight off as we would any illness. Thank you for opening my eyes, I feel that a part of me has changed.0
