I Need Help

I'm sure there is probably another thread already started for this question but there are a ton to go through and I didn't see one. My apologies if I missed it.
I am trying to lose 100 lbs. I'm currently at 240, so 90 more to go. I am becoming unsure what and how to eat. I am fully aware that as I am very overweight I burn more calories than someone who is thinner, leaner and in better shape than myself.
I use myfitnesspal to log calories and keep track of all my nutritional goals. I use my bodymedia fit link to keep track of calories and sleep and the other relevant things it does. I use a withings scale to keep track of my weight, bmi, and fat.
Where I am getting confused is how much to eat. Right now, myfitnesspal says I have 1397 more calories remaining. Does that already have my 1000 calorie a day deficit in it? My bodymediafit says that I have burned 3996 calories so far and took in 1437 so I should eat 1559 more calories to get to my 1000 calorie deficit. I know that they won't exactly sink up to each other, but the prospect of having to eat another 1600 calories today has me a bit nervous.
I am a chef so I am fairly active at work and I do a lot of work around the house (construction type as well as regular chore type).
Does anyone think I've actually burned 4000 calories today (it seems high to me) and do I really need to eat 1600 more?
I have always struggled with weight and I was told part of my problem was that I never eat enough but it seems ridiculous that I should be eating this much. I'm not sure which is the right number to look at. I'd feel much better if myfitnesspal didn't have the deficit but I've read that the link between myfitnesspal and bodymedia isn't perfect and myfitnesspal estimates what it thinks you might burn and not what you actually do?
Anything you guys can tell my would be great. Has anyone on here actually lost a lot of weight eating that much? I know as I lose weight I have to update the settings and it will alter my intake but I'm losing focus and direction.
Thanks in advance.

The amount of calories MFP says you have left to eat takes into account the deficit, so you can eat all the calories shown on MFP and still have a 1000 deficit assuming you have MFP setting to lose 2lbs a week.
Can't help you with the Bodymedia thing. I would say it's totally possible to burn 4000 calories if you've been on your feel all day. But I don't think it will hurt to go by MFP's numbers if you feel like 1600 calories is too much because MFP's number is not much lower.
Hope that helps a little!0 -
Body Media puts me around 3200 a day give or take.. i assume a 25% margin of error and try to eat under that number. I am fairly active too, and have only about 20ish pounds left to lose.
I think it's entirely possible that you burn that many calories per day.. but i'd say don't force yourself to eat if you are not hungry (unless you struggle with under eating) And assume there is a margin of error. If you stop losing weight.. then adjust your calories until you find the right number.. regardless of what is said.. a lot of this is trial and error.0 -
Well you are obviously doing great and congratulations on that. I appreciate the feedback. I'm new to the whole fitness thing and want to do it right. Do you have any other tips, tricks, or strategies for me?0
