How do you stay motivated?

I am in desperate need of help. I am a stay-at-home mom of 2 little kids and I am about 50 lbs overweight. Every day I wake up and say "today is the day I start losing weight and get healthy." I have a great morning, followed by an over-eating afternoon/night. I then tell myself "tomorrow is the day."

I have been doing this for 2 years on and off. Once I dieted and exercised really well for 2 weeks before I went back to my old ways. During those two weeks I ate my exercise calories, spread the calories throughout the day, made sure I ate breakfast, etc. I lost weight and was feeling great.

So why can't I keep it up? PLEASE tell me how you stay motivated, what you use for your inspiration...

What do you tell yourself to keep yourself on track??????????? At this rate I feel like I'll never do it, and if I would just get my butt in gear I could be so much healthier by spring. HELP!

For me it was much like any addict, I had to hit rock bottom and I just know that this is the time I will be successful. Everyday I do the one day at a time chant in my head :)

I just keep remembering how damned hard my body has worked during my workouts and also how bloody hard I have worked with my own discipline and that alone is enough to keep me on the straight and narrow.

I treat myself as a little kid, for instance, if one of my daughters, when they were small, were to try their utmost in something and start to do quite well, let's say at painting, I wouldn't suddenly get a tin of paint and tip it over her masterpiece, even if it was not up to her usual standard. I would love it whatever it looked like. Well the same with my body and weightloss efforts, if I do well for a few weeks and lose the weight, I do not intend to suddenly sabotage it if I do not lose for a week or two - let alone sabotage it when it is still losing!

I know my own methods sound peculiar, but for me it has worked and by the looks of it, will continue to do so.

You need to look at how well you were doing before and think back to what caused you to suddenly revert back to how you were before your weightloss. Was there some sort of trigger that started you snacking again? If there was, you need to work out just what that trigger was, otherwise you will forever be in a never-ending circle.

Keep trying everyday. Every day wont be perfect and you will go over and eat things you wish u hadnt. Its a life style. Think of it this way ... do you want to be healthy? Dont hurt you body with excess calories put in good healthy things and thats what you will get out ! Just my opinion
