I am on a 1200 calorie diet, I wanted to know if I exercise 800 calories do I need to eat an extra 800 calories on top of the 1200 in order to not go into starvation mode or is there a original 1200 just enough?
thanks
( I also wanted to know what are good low calorie filling foods?
is going over sugar levels a problem if I'm eating fruit?
is there a way to cook chicken without oil?
thanks :-)
thanks

As of being on 1200 cal diet, yes, you have to ate them back. 1200 calories minus 800 from exercise = 400 calories. So if you would not ate them back you would be on 400 calories diet, not 1200. Going too low is not good.

2. Boil it, usually will dry it out but you can add low/no fat souse and counter it.
3. Bake it in it's own juices or with low fat/ no fat souse as well, in oven.
4. You can buy no calorie cooking spray and fry it on pan with it, without oil. Just make sure you cut it real thin.0 -
There is and their isnt, it all depends on how you look at it. Once you get to low of calories your body will start to burn your muscle along with fat tor fuel and that is what i consider starvation mode but many others dont. and yes if you are that low on cals you will be burning your muscle at 400 a day so make sure you get at least 1200 cals a day.0

As to your post ...
Eating at 400 cals NET is probably not a very good idea. You won't be able to sustain that for very long...

Yes, seriously, something seems a little off, not quite right. MFP says I need to eat a 1200 calorie net daily diet in order to lose a pound every week, and that seems correct. However, I would like to lose about one and a half pounds a week. At 155 pounds, 5'6" and 47 years old, this doesn't seem out of bounds, does it? Do I really have to limit myself to one pound a week?
So if I eat 1200 - 1500 calories a day and burn 400 - 500 by working out on a good day, this should get me a loss of somewhere between one pound and a pound and a half every week. Is doing that going to somehow damage my metabolism? I wouldn't do that every day. There are definitely some days I eat 1700 - 1800 calories and don't exercise. I just don't see why I should have to lose only a pound every week "or else". If I can't go below 1200 calories net per day, this consigns me to one pound a week.0
