I noticed today when i do crunches or the mountain climbers on the floor, that i have a weird kinda pooch going on in my stomach...is that normal?? or does that mean i just need to tighten it up by working out more, or that im doing my exercise wrong?? its kinda gross and im a little self conscious about it

'Weird kinda pooch' Interesting term...as I have been told repeatedly - some of that is skin. I know we are all a little crazed about the appearance of one's tummy at times...but SOME of what is going on when you contract your midsection and squish yourself together is the skin and underlying tissue (yes some might be fat) that is there so when you stand up and stretch, you don't tear in half.
Other part(s) of it may just be that your stubborn fat (first on/last off) likes your belly area. That means it is going to be as stubborn as possible - cause our bodies like knowing the have a stash somewhere for 'just in case'.
I know that might not be super helpful, but any section of you that you fold in half will have some excess at the crease. ^_^0 -

My husband has the exact thing! I think its either muscle or excess abdominal fat that is distributed there by hereditary. Maybe a combination. I doubt your doing anything wrong. Keep up the good work! If it bothers you, might ask you doctor next time you have a visit. But I doubt its anything to be alarmed about.0 -
It's probably your abdominal muscles in contraction. They grow too, but you want that, cause the more muscle you have on your tummy the more fat is burnt off.0

Hope it's not a hernia.0

No its not a hernia, its my whole entire stomach popping out, i just did it again and its all hard, so im thinking its a mixture of fat, skin and muscle0

Sounds like skin to me. Really, I would be more worried if I DIDN'T have any skin! If you are doing crunches and you can feel hard muscle underneath, you're way ahead of me.0
