Any teens looking to lose weight?

I'm a teen, and I've always been a bit chubbier than my peers. I'm not looking to lose a ton of weight, just 10 pounds. I'm really short, and I love chocolate and potato chips, so I've always had to watch my weight. Being a dancer, I've never had a problem working out, and probably would burn 4000 calories a week if I ate right. My calorie goal is 1,180 so I'm trying to cut out the junk food;)

    This is an adult site.

If you are a teen, you may have better luck at www.sparkteens.com.

But, in regards to your post...um...if your goal is 1180, you don't have a lot of room for more than a small serving of chocolate and/or chips daily. You really need to concentrate on lean protein, vegetables, dairy and fruit.

This, unless you really are 18.

Combine all posts above...sparkteen is where you should be unless you are over 18....lean meats and veggies and fruits...Oh and you shouldn't be eating under 1200 calories...Probably should do more research on that number.

    Ok, good, haha...

So my recommendation for you, since you don't really have a lot of weight to lose is to change your goals to lose just 1/2 pound per week so that you will not be deprived with such a low calorie goal.

With only 10 lbs to lose you really should have MFP set to lose half a pound per week. That ought to give you a higher calorie goal. You're also supposed to eat back most of your exercise calories, so that ought to give you enough room for some chocolate or chips. Just weigh out your portion and make it fit.
  • Thanks guys:);) good luck to everyone!
  • Technically this site is for eighteen and over so I'm good;)

Your ticker says you're 104 lbs. There's no way you're chubby unless you have dwarfism.

  • I'm 5'1". My stomach hangs over my pants. I'm not looking to lose a lot of weight. I wanna get into shape. I don't wanna be super skinny, I just don't like having a chubby tummy.

5'1 at 104lbs. Do you know your body fat %?

It seems you need to work on body composition, not losing more weight. You should look into strength/resistance training.
  • I don't know my body fat percentage. I'll have to find that out:)

This. I admittedly did not look at your ticker.

You don't need to lose weight, you need to hit the gym and start lifting for body recomposition, that way you will lose inches and not lean body mass. And you can probably do that on a lot more than 1180 calories per day.

    Yep.
  • I'd be fine not losing weight if I just get rid of the belly. I honestly don't care how I get rid of it as long as I do.

You need to be focused on body composition then and you definitely need to have a very small deficit, if any. Do you have access to a gym?
  • I have access to a small gym, and a dance studio.

Does your gym have barbells, dumbbells or any TRX Suspension training?

Also, is there any way you can post a picture of your belly?
