When to Take a Break? (Personal Trainer Input needed)

So, I've been working out nonstop since July. My question is do you need to take an active recovery or anything after a certain period of working out? Some say a week or so, but I'm not sure. I've lost 32 pounds so far if that helps. Any answers appreciated!

Typically, I recommend to my clients to workout 5-6 days a week so you get at least 1-2 days a week of rest. Their weekly workouts consist of various ranges of 3-5 days of cardio, 2-5 days of strength, and daily flexibility, all dependent on their goals, preferences, and schedules. I then tell them to take an active recovery week or two (depending on how hard they've been working) every 3 months. Active recovery isn't sedentary, though. They still have to work in the yard, clean the house, play games with the kids, etc., because I don't let them count those things as exercise since they are included in their normal daily activity level.0

Not sure but I just took a ten day break from everything and STILL lost weight. Today I went for my first run in ten days and I noticed that I had more energy, my calves didn't tighten (like they usually do from little recovery time) and in general I feel great! For me, the break was much needed so I'm glad I took it and now I'm ready to jump back into a new program/regimine. Pam (ID: 3Gr8kids):happy:0
