Hello all,

I am about 10 lbs to my wanted weight, although i am at a healthy weight.

I am a rugby player but our season ended this week, and now i am running more to make up for the loss of my sports workout.

I have been losing weight around my legs, tummy, and breast, but not my most flabby part! which is my love handles. They just dont seem to go away no matter what!

Any ideas of what I could do?

Thanks! :D

Increase cardio, include weight training for extra fat burn, (Use light weights and high reps to build lean muscle), and decrease fat intake

I have love handles because I'm 60 lbs overweight. But, in my younger thinner self I didn't have any. My 17 year old daughter, however, who is 5'7" and weighs 113 has them. The only thing I've ever heard to get rid of them is to do side bends. Standing up straight then bend to your left or right with you hand sliding down the side of your leg. Hopefully that will help.

That area is a hard spot for a lot of people to lose weight. Contiune doing cardio and weight training, as well as watching your intake. If you have a gym, they should have a weight machine called the torso rotator, that targets that part of your stomach. As well as stomach crunches where you twist from side to side.
Stand up and Hold a exercise ball above your head, and bend side to side, this one really targets that area too. Good luck!
  • It could be genetics. I have a friend who is quite thin, not unhealthy thin, but defiantly not overweight. She always has little love handles that she just cant get rid of. Her mom is exactly the same.

It isn't possible to target reduce, but toning is possible. If you combine with more cardio and a good eating plan, you might be able to get it to disappear. Everyone has a stubborn place, and mine is my inner thighs.

Here's a technique used by bodybuilders and others to loose the last few pounds.

    http://www.myfitnesspal.com/topics/show/109304-eat-stop-eat-how-it-s-worked-for-me

It's kinda controversial, but you can read up on it and decide. Works for some, not so much for others.

As for oblique exercises, my favorite is kind of a combo cardio move. Stand straight up with your hands behind your head. Raise your right knee as high as you can and bring your left elbow down to touch your knee. Straighten and repeat on the other side. Now do that as fast as you can for a few minutes and not only will you be sweating pretty good you'll be sore too. I wouldn't recomend this as you're only oblique exercise but it's kinda fun and different, so I like it. :-)

i also do oblique twists, or are they russian twists??? lean into a c-sit position with legs lifted off the ground and rotate a medicine ball from left to right. I do 3 sets of 20 :)

Agreed. You need to now do more weight training, ab work, and oblique work. What you need is lean muscle in that area to crowd out the fat. Straight cardio is not going to do it. I recommend 20% fat intake per day.

I've heard different things about the low weight/high reps thing... but to each their own.

In doing KettleWorx, the guy keeps saying that curtsy lunges and side leg pulses (i think) help with that area.
    BUT you can't spot reduce.
