 Right?! When my husband calls me "Vertically Handicapped" or something similar he just gets The Look. For all I care he can (and does) call me short****, shorty, shortstuff, and so on and so forth.

    Be short and proud!

I don't have a problem being short lol.

That means that your feet always touch the ground when you sit on a chair, that you never had to shorten clothing, that you can reach any shelf, that you can't reach down in a washing machine without stepping on a stool and then almost diving in, that at the movies your view was never blocked by someone taller, that you can't reach the bar in public transport to hold on to, that you could not apply for certain jobs because you did not make the height limit, that you couldn't drive any car of your choice because you can't look over the dashboard....just to name a few. Or are you one of those people who are 5' 3" or even 5' 4" who think they are short...lol. ?
Because I can't imagine you never would have any of those problems if you were really short or barely five feet tal.....welcome to my world.....:o), this stuff is my daily bread.......I don't mind being short either; it's who I am, but I can't say that my daily life is problem free , because of it.

    To love

    They got little baby legs
    That stand so low
You got to pick em up
    Just to say hello
    They got little cars
    That go beep, beep, beep
    They got little voices
    Goin' peep, peep, peep
    They got grubby little fingers
    And dirty little minds
They're gonna get you every time
Well, I don't want no short people

Always having to ask someone tall to get stuff off the top shelf for me.

Yes this, which is why I stab the cereal boxes my brother places on top of my very tall fridge on the sides with a very large kitchen knife in order to get them down.

Also door peep holes, they make them too high!

I will get on a chair and punch you in the knee!!!
  • I got no problems with short people. If you need a place to lean, they're there for you. If you've drop your change and it rolls underneath the vending machine, they're there for you. If you get stuck in the meat cooler at Sam the butcher's shop with your little brother Bobby, he's there for you (sorry if that last one is a bit antiquated or outside of your cultural area of nostalgia, I'm not gonna esplain it), if you're 6'0 tall and you've always wished to be 6'4, the short people are there for you.

So, thank you short people. Thank you for being there.

I have no problem climbing up shelving units at the grocery store. It seems like most of the time tall people will see me eye something on the top shelf, see me decide on my climbing route to reach it and pull it down before I get the chance.

I'm glad I'm not the only one that does this.

Also even though I was the shortest player on my ice hockey team, I played in defence. Why? Because low centre of gravity and hip checking people below their centre of gravity and submarining them :drinker:  I've taken out players a foot and a half taller than me (I played men's rec hockey sometimes, not just women's hockey). I may be short but I'm not weak or easy to knock down. Neanderthal genes FTW :drinker: oh yeah and the mechanical advantage for heavy lifting...

why? we have little short arms. Why would we be better than a tall person at getting stuff from under furniture?

I love being short, men find my size very attractive. I have been told it makes them feel very masculine around me. Down side is having to have almost every pair of pants tailored.

OMG YES! And when no one is around to ask for help, climbing, reaching up, straining to reach the lowest item in the stack, and pulling the whole stack down on top of your head. I've gotten a black eye before from doing this.

Exactly! Being 5' tall has its challenges.

My husband sings this to me at least once a week. At 6'4", he can reach whatever he wants. He swears that's why I married him.

The thing I hate the worst is when my son and husband use my head as an arm rest when we are all standing up. Grrrrr.

edited because some vertically challenged short people are also electronically challenged.

My boyfriend and most of my friends are over 6ft, so it sucks when they rest their arms on my head -_- and the boyfriend calls me cute all the time!! Damnit >.<

    F that... climb!

That's what I do! I look absolutely ridiculous when I do it but I don't care.

What I really can't stand is when taller people think they can use me as an arm rest.

my hopes and dreams of being a WNBA star were dashed. My skills as a baller could not make up for my shortness.
