Question for Fellow C25K'ers

Hi there - just wanted to pick your brain on your progress with C25K. Specifically, are you generally moving forward every day or are you repeating days? I am in Week 5 where the run intervals are 8 minutes and it is kicking my butt. I can get through it but I find that I have to decrease my speed on the treadmill for the second 8 minute interval. So I am on my second week of repeating Week 5 because I feel like I should not move on until my endurance is better - does anyone else do this? Also, I was just wondering what speeds you are using on the treadmill if you don't mind sharing. I feel like a turtle going so slow but it seems like the only way I can finish. My walk speed is generally 3.2 and running at 4.0. I can run at a bit higher speed but then wouldn't be able to finish the interval. Would just love to hear what others are doing. Thanks!

I have found when increasing your distance/time running that all the apps and programs I have used talk about running at a "conversational pace" to build endurance and add kilometers. A pace where you could hold a conversation to a person next to you with little to no discomfort . If you are finding the need to slow down on the second 8 minute interval, try running both at the slower speed.

I found this to be one of the more difficult things to force myself to do as I always wanted to push myself to go faster and farther, but it is beneficial to slow it down and just finish. If you are breathing too hard and becoming too exhausted to finish at the one speed, you need to slow it down and focus on finishing. Ignore the time it takes!

Hope this helps in some way.

I repeated a few days and I run like a turtle. The only reason I didn't repeat more days is because I'd force myself to finish just so I wouldn't have to repeat them! One time of torture is enough! I do about the same speeds as you. I've actually finished the C25k program so now I need to focus on speed more. I'm pretty sure I can walk faster than I can run!
