Vacation calories?

I'm going to NYC for two days ( Christmas day to the 27th) and I'm so excited but am also worried about food. I was in New york City back in the summer and ate so much take out but apparently didn't put any weight on. Maybe due to walking 10 hours a day? but this time will be a little different as it's obviously cold and winter and we may not walk around as much as back in the summer. Should I not worry about calories for those two days or still keep track? can you gain to much weight in two days?

Take the vacation from tracking. Two days isn't going matter, though if you do a lot of take out, don't be surprised if you gain a little bit from sodium. Two days is barely a blip on the radar. Have fun!

You are most likely right, I was so bloated for up to a week after that trip ( scale said I went up by 2 pounds) but stepping back the scale a week later read I was still the same weight as before. So I figured it was water weight.
  • Relax! Don't get all jammed up about it, just plan ahead. If you are going out to eat or getting good take out, plan for it and then just eat a healthy regular breakfast if you usually eat breakfast, try to work in one healthy salad or.veggie meal for the weekend, concentrate on getting in a good healthy protein in your meal, and then enjoy yourself. NYC has some fabulous food! You can't gain too much weight in a few days. Have fun! If you want to make yourself feel slightly less guilty, take your workout shoes and run some stairs, do some pushups, jumping jacks, burpees, planks and you've gotten a quick indoor workout. You can do this while listening to music or watching TV.
Others may have a more disciplined approach but I have to go for the "moderation " approach so it keeps me focused but not deprived.

And tell Mesa Grill "hello" for me! LOL

NYC...it's like one of the food capitals of the world!

    Calories dont count there...have fun!
  • Try splitting an entree with your traveling companion. My DW and I shared a steak for 1 at the capital grille this weekend. Made it easier to not over eat with a huge portion.

no worries! how much trouble can you possibly get into for 2 days? I would just enjoy and deal with the aftermath when I got back home.

Good idea. I would track as best as I can / it might keep me from mindless snacking on food that I could get back home.
