Which Calorie Watch Do You Use?

I want a calorie watch to measure my calories burned when I workout. I am not yet interested in heart rate, etc, but I assume as I grow I would want to know about that too.

Which brand do you use and why do you like it?

I dont like looking at heart rate either, I am a big person so I know its going to be up there when I start lifting my feet. I dont have a HRM for the wrist right now but I have one on my treadmill (golds treadmill from walmart), I actually look somewhere else when it shows my heart rate. but I do burn calories pretty fast when running. I want to get Polar FT4, it has calories on a separate screen.

Thank you! I've heard about Polars too. I'm thinking of getting one...or hinting for Christmas :-).

I have a Polar FT4 and I like it, it comes with a chest strap but it's so comfortable you do not notice it. What is scary is the difference between my actual calorie burn and what the machines at the gym said - even those with heart rate sensors (which were so accurate at times I was either dying or having a heart attack - going by their readings lol)

Are you female? I am wondering how the straps fit around the breasts?

Those fit's the rib cage- no the boobies.

Or they can go on your wrist.

I don't use any of those. can't be bothered- to expensive.

I lurrrrrve gadgets. I have a Polar F11 heart rate monitor and a BodyMedia Fit arm band to track calories burned, steps, sleep, etc. I really wish I could get the heart rate with the BMF if I wore a chest strap, and I wish you didn't have to pay a monthly subscription, but thus far, no one device exists that does everything I want satisfactorily. Oh well. :indifferent: Maybe next year.

Garmins will allow you to configure what ever you want to display. Depending on the watch is what it'll show - some, like the FR10, don't do HR, others don't connect to cycling sensors so won't show cadence.

If you wanted to, you could have it just show time of day while recording! It'll still record your HR, distance, etc. just not show it to you.

I don't know if Polar HRM/GPS watches will do the same, never used one.

I think a Heat Rate Monitor is super important. You want to be in your target zone heart rate while working out, and a simple calorie counter won't catch that :)

    I love my Polar FT4!

it can be done without it- it's not a necessity.
