How to lose weight during the winter holidays!

Hi!
I want to write something motivational/inspirational for you in the form of a note-to-self.
Many people worry that they'll gain weight during the holidays. While I understand this worry, I think it's not something we can't do anything about, even better, it's possible to lose weight during this period. This is how I'll do it. I will:
1) keep exercising. A lot of cardio.
I'll do my usual 4 runs per week, and because I can't go swimming at my parents place I'll do longer distances.
2) log calories
I don't normally do this but I will do this during the holidays, for the purpose of controlling my eating as well as doing an experiment for later (I may continue to log after).
3) I'll eat slowly during the family dinners and enjoy what I eat (so I'll be less likely to overeat).
4) I will take some extra walks during the holidays (not talking about running)
5) I will focus on drinking a lot of water and not skipping any meals during the whole holidays (to avoid getting very hungry)
That's it. My goal is to break my record, which is to weigh less than 89 kg somewhere during the holidays.
I hope that it'll work and that you can continue with your goals as well. If you have good advice feel free to share!

Sounds like a great plan, I'll be doing the same thing (don't run, but step and ride my bike instead) and I'll be choosing the stuff I eat carefully, since lots of Danish Christmas food are loaded with calories, carbs and FAT.0

It' very simple.
Eat all the food. Do all the workouts.
It's ONE day out of the year...you aren't going to gain from one day.0 -
I'm not going to pay attention to what I eat, maybe gain a few pounds and then lose them in the new year. I would rather enjoy myself without any guilt!0

Thanks!
Just to be clear, I am not just talking about 1 day, but with the holidays I mean the two weeks of holidays we have here in the Netherlands, which included 2 Christmas days and old & new year's day, an in general a break from the usual work routine.
...which will not be a break from health routine!0 -
In Denmark we eat Christmas dinner on the 24th and then we go out to family and friends the following days afor Christmas lunch/dinner where we eat crappy, fatty and not very healthy food... I'll be bringing a salad and hoping that they will serve slices salmon or pork...0
