*not true. I swear I sweat more now that I am more fit.

    · If you lose weight, your laundry time will be reduced because of the smaller clothing.

*also not true. Laundry is full of work out clothes.

    · If you lose weight, you will become less critical and negative about yourself.

*more critical.. always more to improve

BUT with that attitude, you may lose your 'fat' friends.

    • If you lose weight, you will be more appealing to others.
What about being appealing to yourself? Health first.

    • If you lose weight, you can have skinny people as friends again.
Who would want skinny friends, if they don’t accept you for who you are? What about your heavier friends?

    • If you lose weight, you will stop wearing out the thighs of your pants.
I’ve lost weight, and my thighs still touch. I still get fuzz-balls where my pants come together from rubbing… some girls that lift heavy will still have touching thighs.. at times it’s how your built, not the amount of fat on your body.. look this myth up.

    • If you lose weight, you can toss those industrial-sized granny panties and get some that are cute and sexy.
I have still seen cute and sexy clothes for full-figured women…

    • If you lose weight, you will feel sexier and when you feel sexier, you will become sexier.
State of mind – not based solely on weight.

    • If you lose weight, you will feel good about yourself.
You can feel good about yourself, regardless.

    • If you lose weight, your breasts will undoubtedly stick out farther than your stomach.
Not necessarily. My breasts have shrunk significantly and aren’t “huge” like they were before-hand. Certain things will be sacrificed. I miss my “girls.”

    • If you lose weight, you will be happier.
    Again, state of mind.

    • If you lose weight, you will eat healthier food; therefore your family will eat healthier.
    LOL not true at all.

    • If you lose weight, you will live longer.
Unless you get hit by a bus or die of a genetic disease.

    • If you lose weight, you won't have a fear of scales any more.
Sometimes I’m still afraid of my scale.

Not being mean. I think a lot of what you’ve put on here has to do with your outlook on life in general. However, I agree with a lot of it! I too, disliked having my picture taken, and now I’m a lot more comfortable in front of a camera. I do like getting dressed. I do like when my clothes fit comfortably. But you can still feel sexy without “losing weight.” Being healthier is one thing; just doing it solely based on appearance isn’t always a sure-fire way to be happy. Sometimes I will occasionally become discouraged because my body isn’t perfect.. even though I’ve lost a good amount of weight. Sometimes I don’t think we’ll ever be satisfied, because we’re human! Don’t do it for the wrong reason, find the right ones.

So, from what I gather from this, if you are fat, you should constantly be ashamed of yourself and embarrassed. Alrighty then.

I second that....Im thinking to my self, the people who made this article do they live in the real world? Plus half the crap doesnt exactly apply to real life. My favorite is youll appear more tailored. Ha yea as soon as I get "skinny" Im going to a tailor to look tailored for my clothing

    · If you lose weight, you will stop wearing out the thighs of your pants.

True facts, that won't happen for me unless I loose an unhealthy amount of weight. I was wearing the thighs out of my pants at a size 2 and a dancer. Here's to muscular legs.

oh lawdy do I take issue with this...

point numero uno: Drop the passive approach you're taking toward health. Weight doesn't define you as a person. If that's what you see as the barrier toward being happy with yourself, then I think you need to reasses your priorities.

point numero dos: Thin people are not magical unicorns with glorious perfect lives. I'm relatively thin and there are still days I dislike what I see in the mirror, days I don't feel so hunky dory about my life, days that people nag me about what I eat. The list goes on, and I know without a doubt that I'm not alone in this.

Not to be harsh OP, just my $0.02 :flowerforyou:

    :noway:
My face when actual adults pick apart and analyze an article from YAHOO of all places. Everyone, it's an article someone cobbled together real fast in LIST FORMAT about reasons to lose weight. The actual reasons to lose weight are as follows:
    Be healthier long term
    Be smaller.
That's a boring list. It doesn't drive revenue to Yahoo. The list they put together did, however, make quite a few people break out their reasoning skills to say "Someone is wrong on the Internet!" Here's a rule of thumb for everyone who has never surfed the web before: someone is always wrong on the Internet, any article that is written in list format needs to be taken with the world's biggest grain of salt.
So if my wonderful, brilliant, smexy, thoughtful, kind MFPers could go ahead and bring their collective blood pressure to normal levels by not being personally affronted by an article from Yahoo, that would be smashing.:flowerforyou:

I stopped reading based on the fact that the first two reasons to lose weight were to look good for others and to be able to have skinny friends. Those are terrible, terrible reasons to base your health goals on. Terrible. This isn't motivating, it's disgusting.
