Grrr. Life is conspiring against me.

Lunchtime Zumba is cancelled until Jan 2. I have a meeting, work, or a child related activity every evening this week. Work is nuts, everybody wants everything done yesterday. The Courts keep scheduling hearings. And every where I go there is fudge and cookies.
I guess as long as I maintain, I'm doing OK.

I can't wait until the holidays are over.....0

How is that life conspiring against you?
There are other times for Zumba.
Plenty of people are out of work and would love to have a job, even if it's nuts.
Lots of people don't have kids/family to spend time with and would welcome child related activities in the evening.
Don't eat the fudge or cookies if you don't want them.0 -
Is there something else, like another exercise, you could do during your normal Zumba time?
I tell myself that there's no reason to pig out around the holidays, that type of food I can have any other time of the year. I can make my own fudge/ham/turkey/stuffing/cookies/banana bread/etc etc...any time I want. Why do I need to stuff my face now? The holidays are not an excuse to overindulge!0 -
I used to think like that ......... but I've learned to say "no" to my inner child ...... you can, as well :drinker:0

Look, this is just tongue in cheek about the difficulties in keeping up with everything right now.
There are other times for Zumba, but they conflict with my work/meeting schedule. I will go when I can but it's difficult this week.
Example, yesterday I planned to go to the gym after I took my kids to the dentist at 8. I had a closing scheduled at 10. By the time the appointment was over and I got the kids to school, it was 9:30. No time. Then I didn't get home from work until 7:45.
I usually go to Zumba at 5 today. The kids Christmas concert is at 6. Not happening tonight.
I will go tomorrow night and Saturday morning.
And I want the fudge. That's why I eat it, duh.0 -

I"d go for a walk, but it's -20 out. I do the elliptical at home after work if I'm not out that evening.0 -
You got this!!!!! Think about how great you've been feeling with the weight loss and that will help deter some of the sugar cravings from seeing it. Keep water close by and have to drink a glass of water before eating any of the fudge, cookies or other sugary treats you see (another great trick for getting rid of the craving while you're in the vicinity of the trigger).
You don't have to "maintain". And if you find you really want that sweet, pick the one that you desire the most and work it into your daily calories. Try to work in a walk (even if it's 10 or 15 minutes instead the building). I know it's not as much of a calorie burn as Zumba but it's something.
You can do this!0 -
I do Les Mills BODYCOMBAT at the Gym, don't know if its the same for Zumba but I bought 4-5 of the Gym "masterclass" DVD's the instructors use to train themselves on eBay for when I can't go, so like tonight when I can't go to the Gym I just do it on my own at home works out great and although I burn about 100 calories less according to my heart rate monitor than at the Gym at least I burnt 700+ calories which is the main thing!0

Turn everything you said into a positive. We are what our brain hears us say repeatedly.
Zumba is cancelled so I will do bodyweight exercises insetad.
Every evening is filled with meeings this week but I am lucky I have a good job and I can run a few blocks with my kid when we get done.
The Courts keeep scheduling hearings so I can schedule a different time for my workout too.
Everywhere I go there fudge and cookies so I will make sure to pack some healthy snacks that fit in my bag and stick to my plan.
My eye is on the big picture not the little daily disruptions.0 -
OK, now it really is.
You know that big ice storm that was in the news recently? Yeah, it hit us. Power outages everywhere (I was lucky though, never lost power), trees down, roads suck. Every freakin' thing was cancelled. I was stuck in the house for a few days. With the kids. Who didn't want to do Wii dance with me no matter how hard I tried. And had to tell me something VERY VERY VERY important once I got on the elliptical.
There was zumba/kick boxing this morning. I feel better now.0 -
Could be worse. I had a friend go in for a physical and he came out finding out he had type II diabetes. Another friend lost 10 relatives due to the typhoon in the Philippines.
Be thankful for what health and life you have. Setbacks are just those.............setbacks.

Ok, now it really is.
Freak accident yesterday. A tire flew off a trailer hauling construction equipment and hit my van. I'm ok, sore, but ok. My vanis totaled.
Off workouts for a few days.0 -
Sorry to hear about your van .You know what I did yesterday when I couldn't get out of my house to run? I waited until the kids were asleep, put on my heart rate monitor and spent 40 minutes running back and forth down my hallway to my bedroom. It wasn't "fun" but it got my exercise in for the day I wanted. Where there is a will...♥0

@Marcia315: You're definitely having "one of those weeks". Do what's right for you: if that's maintaining, then it's maintaining. If you can push a little, do that. But don't sweat it. It'll get better. Just don't throw all caution to the winds and start inhaling cakes. :laugh:0

This too shall pass.
Sorry your life is difficult right now, that's how life goes. And it goes on and on and on. Until it doesn't any more.
Life is rarely convenient and easy, you just have to keep dealing with the challenges. As the PP said, where there's a will there's a way.
You can get through this.0 -

Remember, when you are having negative times, you can find positive ways to work around the bad things and make things better. Life is a roller coaster and you'll have ups and downs. It takes work and determination to learn to roll with them.
I'm glad to hear that, although you are sore, you are safe after your accident. Is it just muscle soreness? You can do some light activity to still get your movement in.
Although the ice storm was a hassle, at least it gave you some of the free time to get your workouts in that you'd been missing.
Kids can be a hassle but imagine your life without them..... quiet but sad. They won't be young enough to interrupt you and hassle you forever. When they grow up you'll miss those moments.
Fudge is tasty, and if you wanted some and ate some, no biggie. Good for you for enjoying it. If you feel guilty about it after eating it, take 15 minutes to do some extra exercise and burn off some of the calories.
Life will continue to throw things at you you never expected. Keep on fighting through them.0 -

do you have snow or ice to shovel? that's a really great whole body workout...
and your van.... well walking everywhere is great for burning calories
on a crappy week, just maintaining is enough... fat loss is a marathon, not a sprint. And sometimes you need to take a little rest before carrying on.0 -
Sorry your week sucked Marcia. But just keep plugging along.0

I live 10 miles out of town where the kids go to school, the grocery store and all the kids activities. 30 miles from work, and I have to drive for work. I can't walk anywhere. That's why losing my car is so traumatic.
I will be shoveling today. If I can move.0 -
