No matter what I weigh my calves stay above 18". Is there any way to reduce them to a more normal size? I don't like wearing shorts because I'm self conscience about them , and jeans don't fit . Any help would be appreciated

I was told to do standing calf raises and that they will help shape them and trim them down. Gawd, I hope it helps I have just recently started to do them. I feel your pain! I hope someone else has tried and true method to share with you.0

Like any other part of the body you can't spot reduce, no single exercise is going to reduce the size of your calfs, if your calfs have fat on them reduce you overall bf% down and this might do it or if they are muscley and firm then you will have to learn to live with them.
FYI I adore my calf muscles, one of my favourite body parts to show off to people, instead of come feel my bicep its come have a look at these calfs.0 -
long distance jogging is the best way to tone and lean out your legs. just make sure to stretch before and after0

Running is what turned my stick legs into shapely pins. So...no. (11.5 inch calves to 14).
OP, hang in there while your body fat continues to drop. They will likely decrease in size with the rest of you.0 -
I have always been a runner so maybe that's the problem. I can say my legs are extremely strong0

I have naturally big calves too, and the only thing that reduced them to normal size was insanity - the plyometrics really helped!0

So be proud of that and rock your shorts. Pride in your ability will get you further down the road of success than a false sense of shame. Legs be legs.0 -
The only way to reduce the size of your calves is a calorie deficit.. running, insanity, etc.. won't provide the results. Now if you dont have much fat, then you would have to be fighting muscle or genetics. BTW, 18" calves are not huge, my biceps are 16" and that isn't big.0

True, but even when I've lost weight in the past with a deficit, it has barely affected my calves. The only thing that worked was a deficit plus all the plyometrics in Insanity0 -

This, I love my calves! I have had issues finding skinny jeans that fit, as well as tall boots, but I kept looking and have found ones that fit.0 -
According to your ticker you have 53lbs to lose. Have you been at your goal weight before and if so, were your calves the same size?0
