GETTING CLOSE TO LOSING 100 LBS!

Hi, I started my healthier me journey on 2/24/13 and was on 8 different meds (5 for diabetes, 2 for HBP and 1 for high cholesterol) and was considered, according to charts, to be obese topping out at 262 lbs. I decided to lose weight to get myself off the meds and be healthy along with losing weight. I started at first using Weight Watchers and a month later changed to MFP because I heard it was a great way to track everything, and it was FREE.

I started out going to the gym doing just cardio and then the beginning of April a friend did an outdoor fitness workout which I started doing 2-3 times a week in addition to the gym. I started walking and light jogging, having completed five 5K's this year, including the Dirty Girl Mud Run which is an obstacle course. The friend with the outdoor fitness workout stopped doing it in August as a friend opened a new gym, which we all joined October 1st. I continued going to the gym 5-7 days a week, and started taking boot camp classes at the new gym the middle of October, and I go 4 days a week and the off days I do cardio and some weights/strength training.

I went to my doctor after 3 months of my dieting and exercise and was taken off 7 of the 8 meds, the 8th I am only taking 1/2 a pill and my labs were drastically changed: BS 235 down to 95, A1C 10.5 down to 6.1, cholesterol 179 down to 78. I was amazed that in just 3 months my bloodwork had changed so much, but I had completely changed my diet, cutting way down on fats, sodium, carbs and sugars.

The gym has been great for me and will now be doing a 10 WEEK TRANSFORMATION CHALLENGE at the gym along with my other boot camp friends, coworkers and other friends. I can't wait to see what is in store by the end of the challenge. Twice no one came to boot camp, including last night, and I was given the choice of doing that by myself or doing a personal training session and I chose that instead. It gave me 45-50 minutes of a personal training session that we killed a leg routine.

Today, I am just 15.8 lbs away from hitting 100 lbs, and my goal is to reach that 100 lb loss before my 1 year weight loss journey anniversary on 2/24/14. So for anyone that has doubts that they can lose weight and become healthier, don't EVER doubt yourself, you put in the hard work and dedication and you can become ANYTHING you want to be!

Way to go!! What and inspiration. I am on meds for HBP and recently Metformin but my A1C is only 5.8-5.9 has been for the last few years. My NP(never see a Dr.) is trying to prevent diabetes while I work on this weight. I also know from past events that weight loss lowers my bp. I'm on 2 other meds for anxiety that I'm working to get off as well. One is as needed(Xanax and I rarely take that) but the other I'd love to come off as well.

So nice to have a motivational I can do it for my goal to get off all meds.

You can do it, I was determined and motivated to get off meds and be healthier. I worked my butt off day after day, week after week, month after month and have found a great gym and group of friends there that motivate me and hold me accountable. Feel free to add me as a friend if you like
