New Trainers

I have a couple of pairs of rather naff trainers which I currently use for the gym. I am working through Brett Conteras Strong Curves at the moment which involves squats and deadlifts (amongst a load of other stuff). I have no problem with the naff cheap trainers as far as what I am doing physically goes, and did not while doing 5x5 either. No ankle flexibilty issues etc etc.
Now, I know in theory the best shoes for lifting are weightlifting shoes, and next best are Chuck thingies. I want a good allrounder as the way Strong Curves is set up I would be swapping shoes every 5 minutes if I wore specialist ones. I don't really dig the Chucks look. I don't thing actual lifting shoes are versatile enough. So I am looking for a decent but not horribly expensive alternative.
I don't _need_ new trainers, I just want some. I have had a couple of pairs of Skechers which I love as a general all round trainer - I could happily live in something like these all the time http://www.skechers.co.uk/style/22045/bikers-stereo-sound/lgw and I was wondering about skechers to lift in, the none gimmicky ones are pretty solid soles, but maybe not a lot of support. And really I would just like an excuse to buy skechers - may end up with a pair just for me anyway.
I like these http://www.skechers.co.uk/style/13551/skechers-on-the-go-overcome/cchp
and these http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Skechers-Active-Womens-Brown-Pink-Suede-Trainers-Shoes-UK-4-37-Fast-Free-Ship/400526176975?_trksid=p5197.m2280&_trkparms=aid=222002&algo=SIC.FIT&ao=1&asc=312&meid=3556986395162900912&pid=100068&prg=1171&rk=1&rkt=10&sd=400526176975&_trksid=e100084.m1843 sorry really long link!

Any thoughts? If these are useless can anyone suggest a good trainer for under £50?

just pick a shoe without a thick, cushy heel. there's no reason to spend hard earned cash on lifting shoes.0

I prefer minimalist shoes. You don't need a specialized shoe. I love Altras and use them for running, lifting, turbo, and even all around my farm.
Fantastic shoes.0 -
DavPul, I like your thinking there I shall have a look at Altras, thank you.
Also if it has any bearing on all this I am uk based0 -
I know a lot of people that lift in their bare feet.0

Mmm, I am clumsy and while trainers will not protect me from dropping weights on them, they will save me from stubbing my toe on the equipment!0
