I went to the gym with my boyfriend for the first time and I maxed out on the leg press at 660#. A lot of the guys had to come see for themselves and my boyfriend only lifts 400# . This was my first time lifting weights but I do run a lot. I was really proud of myself

Wow, good job! Makes me feel bad about doing only 1.5x that for reps, and I'm a male, relatively regular lifter with 40lbs on you! I wouldn't focus on doing that much max weight though, go down and work on a weight you can do 10-12 reps x3 sets or you are likely to hurt yourself some time in the future.0

Oh...then, no idea! Never tried!0 -
I think a much better question would be "Girls how much can you squat?" Much more impressed with people that can squat properly with a barbell.0

I'm in for the obligatory brahs discounting the leg press as a valuable exercise and hailing the greatness of ONLY squatting.0 -
The leg press is a terrible exercise. It's a purely artificial way to lift weight that bears no resemblance to actual human motion, and it is preferred by new lifters because it is much easier to put up huge numbers on a machine than in a more useful exercise. If you want to do a real exercise involving your legs, you do squats.0

I like the leg press because it's like rest between sets because you can sit. And you can also do some super heavy calf raises on there.0 -
Wow am i the only one who has actually answered the qt so far?
Kind of sad0 -

HEY! I resemble that remark! (I only do leg press in place of heavy suit case squats, close stance and full depth)0 -

I apologize for derailing your thread OP. It was not intentional. I have just gotten a few too many messages from guys asking about how much I can leg press and being weird and pervy.0

The only problem with comparing 1RMs on machines is that it depends on the angle of the seat and foot plate as well as the leverage offered by the mechanism. The only real way to compare things is for others to use the same machine as you and see how they do.0
