Walking/ Step counter phone apps

I've seen quite a few apps that are suppose to track your walking/running. Some that work on their own and some that will sync up with MFP. Do you guys have a favorite that you use? I'm only looking at free ones. I don't want to pay money for the app or fancy monitors; just looking for the basics to work on getting my butt back off the couch again!

I tried a few of the step counter ones on my ipod touch, but all of them were grossly inaccurate. Eventually I went with a fitbit.
I would say stick with the ones that use gps for greater accuracy.

I have been using Runtastic for walking for over a year now. It uses GPS.

I use Runkeeper - uses GPS and syncs to MFP

I also use RunKeeper. Great so far for outdoor activities. Maps the walk, give you average pace, keeps track of when you best your earlier times / distances. NOT good indoors though. The manual logging is lacking.

walking mate is good for both indoor and outdoor because it's just a pedometer.step counter

for actual workouts i use nike running app. it works outdoor and indoors as well. i do a lot of my running on an indoor track and some app that doesn't work with that isn't worth it to me
