It will go flat. Maybe not in 30 days, but if you're determined and stick with it, it will go flat.

Remember, the meal guidelines are as important as the workouts.

Just from doing 30-day Shred? No, it won't.
  • im not gonna just do 30 day shred. i never said that was it

i already eat a deficit and have lost 20 pounds, i just need to keep at it and wanted to know if anyone that started out with a belly looking like mine have a flat one. i know its takes time and i am determined. i just stated that cause thats my workout plan for the month. i will be doing others as well

This is correct. You have to lose body fat too ,which means weight. When you lose weight you lose it all over, but often the most troublesome areas of the last to go.

Well, 32 pounds later, my stomach is a whole lot flatter. it was pretty big (or so I thought).

How much more do you have to lose?
  • i am 121 and am 5'0 so i dont have a goal weight. i just want a flat belly, thats all
  • Get the tape measure out and start now as a bench mark. Follow your eating plan strictly and re measure on a monthly log it all in Myfitnesspal and then you will see where you are are losing the fat from.

If I were you I'd measure chest, belly button, hips, upper arm, thighs.

Then you will know if it is working.

TBH I think this is a much healthier way to review goals rather than scales, like you say shape is the important thing.

Oh and one last thing I am trying is apple cider vinegar in water to stave off hunger pangs.

    Good luck..

I lost 1.5" off my stomach in the first 10 days of the 30 day shred.

Total of 8lb and 4 inches off :)

Right, but that's where your body was naturally meant to take body fat off, not because of 30 day shred. Exercise helps create a deficit along with diet but there isn't targeting of specific areas

Actually, my body normally targets my chest and legs first - 2 areas I had little to no change in whilst doing the shred. My stomach has always been a problem area that took a LOT of work to shift.

It was the first to go during the shred.

My chest is usually the first go to as well, but during the 30 Day Shred, thighs and belly were where I lost the most inches. So, in theory, it will help, but like the others said, make sure your diet is correct too!

30 day shred is a good one if you don't skip days....

I lost a total of 9inches and 3lbs (wasn't weighing my food) in 33 days

Did a 2nd round and lost another 4inches and 4.25lbs(was weighing my food and took weekends off)

But remember exercise doesn't make the belly your diet does...

from calorie restricting alone/no exercise. However, I had to go past my original goal by almost 20 lbs and get a bmi below 20 to get there.

Like I said, I lost 1.5" off my stomach in the first 10 days with the shred :) Well, I say 10 days - I took 2 rest days so, in reality, it was 12 days :)

Unfortunately our bodies carry weight where they want to. You may naturally have that shape that's a little rounder in the middle. Keep working hard and it will get better, but your tummy might never really get flat.

ask someone who was once overweight for an extended period of time and now has a flat belly if they used 30 day shred.

a dedicated weights/resistance program that usually involves 4-6 week cycles and the four major full body compound lifts (i recommend strstd.com for 5/3/1 or the New Rules of Lifting for Women, mixed with minimal cardio and a diet high in protein, a diet which lowers their body fat percentage and allows the natural muscle definition underneath to show through, prettily, instead of just doing a million crunches everyday which can actually cause your core and abs to puff out a bit.

Yes I did after I had my daughter. I then got a lovely flat tummy and slim thighs (thighs are my problem area) by working out a lot 2-3 hours every morning 5-6 times a week. I worked out by doing body pump, body combat, spin classes and swimming in my local gym. I also did pole dance exercise which is brilliant for toning and core work. I also watched what I ate by following weight watchers point system. At that time I didn't know a lot about clean eating but weight watchers worked for me at that time. With doing all that I got rid of my 'jelly belly' and got a lovely flat one. Unfortunatley since then I've lost it again, I can no longer spend hours each day at the gym and my eating has gone to hell. I now have a bigger belly than I've ever had (also had another child) and I've had a lot of health problems. But I've decided enough is enough I'm gonna get my flat tummy again and I've bought a road bike and plan to do a triathlon in 2014 and get my eating under control. It is really hard but it is do-able

Hope it does as my body shape is very similar. Everything else has toned up nicely but I have belly fat I'm also trying to get rid of by doing cardio and now added strength training/'toning' exercises to my routines along with eating at a slight deficit.
